RONALD REAGAN SAID #2
On Tuesday, Linden started his posting with these words, “Thanks to a recent THE WEEKLY STANDARD editorial writing, Linden became reacquainted with a speech Reagan made in 1980:” today, we continue with that speech.
“Adversaries large and small test our will and seek to confound our resolve, but we are given weakness when we need strength; vacillation when the times demand firmness. The Carter (Obama) administration lives in the world of make-believe. Every day, drawing up a response to that day’s problems, troubles, regardless of what happened yesterday and what will happen tomorrow. The rest of us, however, live in the real world. It is here that disasters are overtaking our nation without any real response from Washington.

MATTHEW 13:1 – 13:23
The parable of the sower: in this parable, Jesus tells of seed sown along a path where the birds ate it up; seed sown in rocky places where the plants withered; seed sown among thorns where many plants were choked out; and, some sown on good soil where a good crop was produced. Jesus then spoke of some seeing and hearing and not understanding.
Jesus then explained to the disciples that the seed sown along the path corresponds to those who do not understand; that sown in rocky places corresponds to those who heard, understood and believed but failed to sustain their belief; that which fell among the thorns is somewhat like the previous example; and that which falls on good soil refers to those who see, hear, understand, and continue to believe.

RONALD REAGAN SAID 1
Thanks to a recent THE WEEKLY STANDARD editorial writing, Linden became reacquainted with a speech Reagan made in 1980: “When we move from domestic affairs and cast our eyes abroad, we see an equally sorry chapter on the record of the present administration…our allies, looking nervously at the growing menace from the East, turn to us for leadership and fail to find it…”
Of course, Reagan was talking about the leadership shortcomings of the Carter administration. But, the same type of lackadaisical leadership is a hallmark of the Obama regime.

Went to the post office and credit union. Brendan came by and we talked a bit about health insurance and other matters. Later, the pest control man came by. Later, as a result of several phone calls, I went to a garage, a filling station, and the credit union again. Unfortunately, when I got to the credit union it had just closed. So, I will need to go there in the morning.

GAS PRICES
When Linden recently pumped some gasoline into his old car (at roughly twice the price of what it was when Obama took office a long two and a half years ago) the news had not yet hit that some of our strategic reserves would be released. This decision would be made in conjunction with another international body. When has any international body acted to benefit the U.S.? When has our President acted to benefit our country when he could agree with those who are not responsible for our welfare?
For a considerable time the need to drill for oil domestically has been common knowledge but Clinton booted the can down the road during his unfortunate tenure and Obama simply can not get his “highly educated” brain around the concept. Unfortunate for America.

LINDEN’S LIFE
Friday: Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00. Picked up mail and went to a grocery. Sharon is a great edition…I am not. However, I did make the attempt on writings by Reid and Dan: visited with Reid for a bit.
Saturday: strenuous activities consisted of fixing meals, picking up my mail, charging my cell phone and razor, studying and writing.
Sunday: attended church and Sunday school…was involved with an effort that Kent usually takes care of so, didn’t get back home until about noon. Unfortunately, I worried some friends when I left class early to work with Paul…they remembered a couple of times when I was sickly…when I realized they were concerned, I went back to class and explained to them.

MONETARY MALFEASANCE
On Thursday, Linden deposited something over 5,000 Russian rubles in his credit union safe deposit box. After he is dead and gone, his kids will open the box and, for a moment, think that they have struck the mother lode: it is not to be. Four years ago, Linden took the Rubles to Vienna, hoping to cash them in…he had been told they were worth about $2,500.00…he found out that they were worthless…the result of the Russian government failing to safeguard the value of their currency.
The U.S. is following the example of the Russians and the resultant crash, if it occurs, will bring massive weeping to the populace. Readers, you need to quickly replace those “leaders” who are bringing our country to financial doom. Perhaps Linden’s rubles will be worth a couple of bucks on E-bay.

ANOTHER UNSURPRISING DISAPPOINTMENT
Linden has long disagreed with the stance of Indiana Senator Richard Lugar in relation to allowing a President free rein in regard to confirming nominees to the Supreme Court. This kind of thinking has led to the confirmation of Justices Ginsburg, Kagan, and Sotomayor! It is enough to make one wonder about the value of a top-flight education as opposed to using common sense.
Now it appears that through S679 an attempt is underway to allow the Senate to abdicate all confirmation responsibilities. Lugar is listed as a co-sponsor of S679. Linden is disappointed but not in the least surprised.

MATTHEW 12:1 – 12:50
Jesus irritated the Pharisees by explaining the meaning and restrictions of the law. His explanation failed to have a positive effect on the Pharisees. As He left that area, he healed the sick and a demon-possessed man.
This chapter closes with Jesus saying, “whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

On Tuesday, I slept in until maybe 8:00. I dropped off my recyclables and talked to Donna and Kent for a bit, picked up my post office mail and it was time for lunch. Later, visited some with Dan and Diana as I walked out to check my mail box. For some reason I thought about having my Morse code bug (speed key) refurbished, if I can find the missing parts. I used it as the State Police primary means of communication with our posts and other states in the 1956-63 era. While checking on the computer, heard some code sent at 50 words per minute and couldn’t copy it. Memory gone? Here is a link to a replication of the message from the Titanic as it was sinking…this is probably at 20 to 25 WPM.

J.B. COULD HAVE SAID
Linden would not be truthful if he said that he was entirely pleased with the progress made in 2011 by our Congress. He could easily say that there have been evidences that the election of more than a few conservatives in the last election has been beneficial. There are instances where Linden would be pleased with a different tack.
For example, John Boehner agreeing to play golf with Obama. Sure, it would be difficult to refuse an invitation from a President but, if Boehner would have said, “there is just too much work to do right now…things like repealing the ban on incandescent light bulbs and curtailing the support for ethanol production.” Perhaps this would get the message across to the boy wonder.

RATING HOLIDAYS
Since both Christmas and Easter are linked so closely to the birth, works, death, and ascension of Jesus Christ, those two holidays have to be rated as tied for first in importance. Not everyone will agree with the relative importance of the next two holidays.
Since Linden’s birthday on January 4 is often referred to as being the first holy day of the year, it has to be rated third and Father’s Day comes in as a close fourth.

Friday: Awakened at 3:30…I hate days when that happens, I end up being a dead head all day. Was at Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00…Sandi was cleaning my place while I was there. Went to the post office and then to a funeral at 1:30…we lost a Republican stalwart. Went to a very nice dinner celebrating the results of our Town election in the evening: There were probably 25 present and I was the only one who was unmarried.
Saturday: Was at Kingsway for breakfast with the guys there at 7:30 and to the writers group meeting at 10:00. Intended to go to Danville to meet our future Governor at 1:00 but my aching back told me to go home.
Sunday: attended church and Sunday school…didn’t get home until about noon…Brian had left me a message. Later, he and Julie called to visit a bit. Later, Rhonda called to ask me to come to her place…she was having a family gathering. Nice of her but I stayed home. Forgot to mention that I received a big box of snack food from Julie on Friday…I have not yet finished off all of the snacks she brought me at Christmas. Will soon.

UNEMPLOYMENT REPORTS
For a very long time, Linden has believed that the true impact of unemployment or underemployment is grossly underreported for political purposes. Applying a little math (hopefully correct) to the figures reported in the below link will give us a more accurate, if not better, picture.
If the currently reported unemployment rate is 9.1 percent, it appears, based on the figures reported in the link, that the rate of unemployment plus underemployment is about 17 percent. Linden would have thought it was higher. Regardless, it is evidence of massive governmental failure that can only be properly addressed by replacement of…can it be said without being considered racist, our President and many legislators of like mindset.

GOP PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DEBATE
Since Linden’s television viewing is dependent upon the offerings of the stations available to his rabbit ears reception, watching the first debate was not an option for him.
Based upon the coverage later provided, Linden believes that the first favored tier was composed of Michele Bachmann and Mitt Romney with Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich noticeably trailing. Ron Paul and Rick Santorum occupied the next two spots with Tim Pawlenty trailing the field. It was said on more than one occasion that the ability of the interviewer was decidedly lacking.
At this early stage, Linden’s favorites among announced and possible candidates are Bachmann, Cain, and Sarah Palin. We can well expect several more candidates to throw their hat into the ring, particularly in New Hampshire.

MATTHEW 10:1 – 11:30
Jesus sent out his twelve disciples to preach to the Jews. He empowered them to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. They were to preach the message that the kingdom of heaven is near.
The disciples were instructed on how to conduct themselves, how to find housing, and to be on their guard against those who would do them harm: they were told that the Spirit would guide them. Jesus then instructed the disciples further.
Jesus went on to preach in Galilee. John the Baptist, from prison, sent his disciples to see if Jesus was the one who would be sent. Jesus sent back the message that effectively said that his works, actions, and results proved that he was the one. Jesus continued to speak to the crowd about the greatness of John the Baptist, unrepentant cities, and praise for the Father.

UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES
The MSM (or Lame Stream if you prefer) were, to a large extent, absolutely licking their lips over the release of thousands of Sarah Palin E-mails that date to the time of her governorship. Their great excitement of a few days ago, is now beginning to fade.
It seems that there is nothing that could be considered bad news for Palin has been found. In fact some of the writings, particularly one regarding her Down Syndrome child, Trig, is so touching that it can result in nothing but goodwill toward Palin.

RECENT POLITICAL NEWS
Linden is not sure what is really the big story of the past week but certainly the extremely bad judgment of Congressman Weiner got a lot of play.
Almost as much coverage was devoted to the floundering Presidential campaign of Newt Gingrich. It (the campaign) will have to markedly improve or he is toast.
Receiving hardly any coverage was that of Barack Obama knifing
the British in the back over the disputed Falkland Islands. Apparently no hard to explain act by Obama warrants coverage.

UGLY WOMEN?
A caller on the Rush Limbaugh radio show on Wednesday responded to the question as to why Sarah Palin is so unpopular with the female population. She said that she liked her but felt that she was unpopular with other women because she is so pretty and is so self-possessed. Jealousy and lack of individual self-confidence could also be a factor. The show on Thursday continued in the same vein with little said of a complimentary nature toward those who expressed dislike for Palin.
Since Linden has little confidence in published poll results, he rather doubts that this dislike is as prevalent as was presented and, further, that there is plenty of time to address any false images that may be held by any of the electorate. Would it be shallow thinking to base too much Presidential preference solely on appearance?

BLACKS AND JEWS
Linden owes the title of this piece to those who provided the video and the article which are linked to below. The video provides a new approach to settling the dissension that is existent in the Middle East and the article accuses the democrats of a form of racism as they oppose voter id requirements. If the majority of voting blacks ever figure out how they have been dissed they will abandon the democrat party in droves. Both links make a great deal of sense to Linden.

MATTHEW 8:1 – 9:38
As Jesus came down from the mountain, he healed a leper then, in Capernaum, healed the servant of a centurion. There, he also healed Peter’s mother-in-law and many others. Jesus amazed the disciples by calming a storm as they crossed the lake. After, crossing, Jesus sent the demons from two men into a herd of pigs which then ran into the water and drowned.
Crossing back to the other side of the lake he healed a paralyzed man, met Matthew and told him to become a follower. While eating at the home of Matthew, he was questioned by some doubting Pharisees. Following this, Jesus healed a bleeding woman, raised a girl from the dead, healed two blind men and a mute.

LINDEN’S LIFE
Tuesday was a really nothing day for me…it was the first day of Vacation Bible School on the church grounds and it was plenty hot outside. I did a couple loads of wash, went to the post office, plus some reading and writing. Not much!

NO NEWS
Although the major news disseminators are, surprisingly, devoting a great deal of attention to the trashy actions of a trashy member of Congress, Linden does not find that to be newsworthy…after all this particular piece of trash is a democrat…that is the way they are.
What would be real news would be if the Lamestream News would start to provide unbiased reporting in regard to Sarah Palin. In an effort to balance these forces of evil, Linden is recommending that you study each of the links he has so selflessly provided for you.

LINDEN’S LIFE
Went to the post office, drove to Mooresville to get a passport renewal form, back to the credit union and to a grocery. Met Jan at Panera Bread for a very pleasant lunch. Later, got a haircut.

THE RETURN OF THE BLOGGER

THE RETURN OF THE BLOGGER

Today Linden will cover his activities that have not been addressed in this blog previously. A return to political matters should occur on the morrow.

Friday 5-27-11: Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00. Went to the post office twice, to a store, the church, Pier 14, met two guys for lunch, and started packing. When I had returned home there was a bag containing 16 Ireland related references hanging on the door. Not sure who left this stash.

Saturday 5-28-11: Corresponded with Brian and Julie and went to a high school graduation open house. Back home, Mary Beth brought the Owens kids over to say “goodbye.” I had said mine to the parents earlier.

Sunday 5-29-11: The Owens family left for Haiti before I arose. I went to church and Sunday school. Judy Eltzroth fainted in class.

Monday 5-30-11: I believe there were 48 of us, mostly from Plainfield Christian Church, on the bus at 7:00 enroute Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, TN. Also, six other drove cars there. We had two or three rest stops and ate lunch in Lexington, KY. We stayed occupied on the bus and arrived at the college around 3:30. A total of 275 people were to attend this session of Senior Saints in the Smokies. We had a very good evening meal followed by the welcome and good music and then ice cream before going to our respective rooms.

Tuesday 5-31-11: Breakfast at 7:00 followed by music and study of the book of Jude. Then, a study presented by the great David Wheeler regarding the incredible father of the Prodigal Son. A buffet lunch followed the study. We packed a sack lunch for our evening meal. In the evening, music, a sermon, and ice cream.

Wednesday 6-1-11: A repeat of Tuesday morning except that the class, “Walking the Midway of Life” was presented by the great Betty Gray. Another fine lunch. I went to the library and checked out “The Epic Of Gilgamesh.” It didn’t hold my interest. Betty Gray gave a dramatic presentation regarding Irena Sendler. In the evening, since it was so hot, we had our “State Fair” dinner in the dining room. As part of that, Peggy Hileman asked me to talk about Indiana. Since I received several nice comments, I guess I stumbled through it ok.

Thursday 6-2-11: At breakfast I talked so long to a couple of students that I was quite late for the morning worship program. I went to the first hour of a Facebook presentation and got questions answered. I returned the library book, had lunch and packed for the evening meal. Had the usual evening program and ice cream.

Friday 6-3-11: We had a prayer circle at 7:00 and, after a light breakfast, were on the way home before 8:00. Had lunch in Lexington and were in Plainfield before 5:00. This was my 7th time to attend Senior Saints. Love it! This has to be the only college in the world where the President wipes off each tray and greets each person as they go to their meals. Brian called for a good visit after I got home.

Saturday 6-4-11: Mens meeting at Kingsway at 7:00…found out that it was Lloyd who had left me books on Ireland. I got partially caught up on my mail and computer stuff.

Sunday 6-5-11: Morning church and Sunday school. Went to a high school graduation open house in the afternoon. Also, talked a bit with Eric, who with his wife and young son had moved into the Mission House last Wednesday. He is now part of the PCC staff.
