COMMENTARY: BOYCOTT CNN ADVERTISORS??

Linden, since the monikers of “Clinton News Network” and “Communist News Network” seem fitting, rarely watches that channel. After reading that there appears to be a plot to keep Carly Fiorina from the next Presidential debate he copied the names of some of the advertisers during the short time it was watched. Dunno if I will threaten them or not but it does seem like a good idea.

Friday started with Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00 then walked two miles. Later, I picked up my mail, and read copies of notes I has written to Alison, Jake, and Brian Jr. ten years ago. Went over to the Mission House to meet Josh, a new member of our ministerial team: came from Bloomington, Illinois.

On Saturday I was not feeling too well and was not overly active. Took some medicine and had a long nap. Exchanged messages with Alison and Brian. Watched three horse races: had I been betting, I would have won on two of them.

On Sunday I was still sick and did not attend church: did drop off my donations. It seemed like the only time I wasn’t sleeping, I was blowing my nose. I like the song linked below.

Tuesday I walked two miles then went on to breakfast. Following that, I picked up my mail, dropped off my recyclables, then went to a bank the credit union, and a store. Friday started with the Men’s Prayer Breakfast then walked about a mile and three quarters and picked up my mail. Harlene came by and sewed buttons on a shirt and a pair of trousers. Bless her. She mentioned that she and Peggy had lunch at Taco Bell so, after she left, I, for the first time in months went to Taco Bell also. Later I bought some underclothes and a coffeemaker.

On Saturday Sam joined me for breakfast at the Legion Post. Marsha was also there and she had made me some oxtail soup, Ratatouille, and a loaf of bread: looks like I’ll eat this week. Sam and I went by to check on the construction of the new Post: lookin’ good. Shirley had sent some coffee and tomatoes with Sam. Later, I picked up my mail and went to a grocery.

Sunday brought church and Sunday school attendance followed by brunch with friends. Not active at all the rest of the day.

One has to wonder if it doesn’t constitute theft when an employee steals time from their employer to investigate things such as this “dating site”. It isn’t much to consider that if a person is engaged in lying about their marital status that they possibly wouldn’t consider theft a departure from their standards.” Since Carly Fiorina has already addressed the possibility that taxpayers are funding too many bureaucrats, this may be used to expand her talking points. After walking a mile and a half Wednesday morning I again had breakfast at Chick-fil-A After picking up my mail, I met a trip supporter for conversation and more coffee. Back home, Julie called to advise me of a Facebook report of one of her big oak trees awaking them early this morning by falling and blocking the street. I found the report and the tree surely blocked the street. Luckily, it didn’t damage the house. Dan and Diana came by in the afternoon for coffee and conversation. Wednesday evening meals and programs have resumed at church and I enjoyed both. Brian called in the late evening regarding Ireland travel.

Of course Linden is speaking of political clubs and Donald Trump and the article linked below illustrates the action rather well. We often hear the term “GOP establishment” but other than Boehner and McConnell the naming of this establishment is rarely, if ever, performed. COMMENTARY: SERIOUS COLLEGE STUDIES?

Purchasing a college education requires the expenditure of more than a few hard earned dollars and a case could be made to refer to some of the courses offered as little more than theft. Perhaps Linden is not capable of the deep thought required to analyze the benefit of paying for the course mentioned in the link below…after all, it appears to be a cost vs. potential benefit problem…it does appear to be an almost complete waste.

On Saturday, Lloyd picked me up and we went to the men’s meeting at Kingsway. Had a busy day with no major accomplishments.

Sunday morning was devoted to church and Sunday school attendance followed by brunch with friends. Watched the Colts preseason game and not a lot else.

Monday started with me sharing coffee, conversation, and cinnamon rolls with a friend at Goody’s. Then, I went by the Library, walked a mile, and picked up mail. Brian called to discuss our Ireland trip then Kent called to tell me that Donna was on the way over with food: she was and it was good. Friday I had a long phone visit with Julie before going to Danville for my 10:40 appointment with Dr. Suh. Talked with Brian later.

Saturday I walked a mile then went to the writers group meeting. Back home, did a load of wash and watched two televised horse races: had I been betting, I would have won a few dollars on the second race.

Sunday brought church and Sunday school attendance. Had two friends drop by for visits in the afternoon. Later I corresponded with Brian.

COMMENTARY: JUDGING THE DEBATES

Although possibly very few under the age of 30 remember Margaret Thatcher, Linden will again say that Carly Fiorina may well be America’s Margaret Thatcher. Linden was joined by the majority of the pundits in rating Carly the clear winner of the first of the August 6 Republican debates. Of the 7 candidates, Linden placed Rick Perry in second place and Bobby Jindal third. All seven were rated as superior to the current White House occupant.

The second debate was more difficult to judge: Linden rated Cruz the winner with Walker, Carson, and Kasich also having impressive moments. Donald Trump was a major disappointment…his threat to consider a third party run if he is unsuccessful in securing the Republican nomination was a statement that he considered himself MUCH more important than the well being of the country.
