COMMENTARY: A TIME FOR PRAYER
Few things have more effect upon your day to day life and the enjoyment of it than politics. So, it follows that we should have expectations in regard to those we believe should be our leaders. We are preparing to elect our President, holder of our most important office. Should we not expect ourselves to select the one who looks, acts, and conducts himself or herself in a Presidential manner in all regards? Should they not be able and willing to correctly answer the most critical questions facing our nation? Should we not seriously consider who and why we select the one we do? I pray that we will not abdicate our responsibility.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME lswift8@aol.com
Friday started with Men's Prayer Breakfast and we had biscuits and gravy. Good! Napped when I returned home, after picking up my mail I did some writing Made soup for supper.
Sam came out on Saturday and we had breakfast at the Legion Post: saw several friends and a nephew that I hadn't seen for years. After picking up my mail I went to the drugstore, watched Butler win a basketball game, and did some writing.
Sunday brought church and Sunday School attendance followed by brunch with friends. Not a real productive afternoon.

The mention of Jonathan Swift is a pretty sure way to get Linden's attention and with Walter Williams being the one who mentions him, it is a sure bet. You will probably enjoy the article linked below.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME lswift8@aol.com
Wednesday started with eye problems and a miserable drive in a cold and heavy rain to an appointment in Danville to attempt to secure some of my Air Force record info. The appointment went well and I Liked those I met. I stopped to speak to the workers in Voter Registration and they, as always, were just wonderful...expressed concern over the appearance of my eyes and offered assistance, if needed. Luckily, I didn't need it.
Carmen from Cardholder Services called again, this time in the late afternoon, usually she calls around noon. Maybe she slept in. I received a call from another credit card hawker earlier in the day and this time handled the call correctly by hanging up quickly.

COMMENTARY: BUSH LIED???
The “Bush lied – people died” made for a really good political motto but was it true and if true did any of those others who supported the lie get called to task. The question relates to whether or not Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. Linden will always believe that they did possess the weapons although only a limited quantity were found and identified. To see a partial list of those who agreed with Bush, read the article linked below. You will have to select the proper John Hawkins article.

COMMENTARY: TALKING AT BREAKFAST
John joined me as I was having biscuits and gravy at Chick-fil-A, he had the same and our conversations touched on several subjects. Included was his mention that he was now reading A Tale Of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. We agreed that it starts with the description of situations comparable to the present day. You may check out our thinking by reading the following which was copied:

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.[2]

COMMENTARY: CONTINUING HOPE
Since Ted Cruz was one of Linden's three early favorites to be our next President and remains as his lone favorite today, he is not yet ready to throw in the towel. It is true that Trump has the early lead and that Rubio has a strong, but not stronger than Cruz, following it will probably remain a couple of weeks before the final candidate will be solidified.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME lswift8@aol.com
Friday started with the usual early morning Men's Prayer Breakfast. Later, I went to the post office and by the church. In the evening I attended my Sunday School class party: had good food and a nice time.
Saturday I attended another American Legion oratorical contest. It was held at the Post in Broad Ripple. I went with Rich, Anna, and Marsha. The contestants were, once again, just outstanding. Had wonderful clam chowder for lunch.

COMMENTARY: WINNING IS NOT ENOUGH
it is not a rarity to become aware of a voting procedure or result that seems to be just plain wrong. The democrats in New Hampshire use a system that may mean to the loser goes the spoils. The article linked below explains.

----
MOSTLY ABOUT ME lswift8@aol.com
Wednesday started with me making a trip to a store and the post office. Laura came by and took me to Claddagh's for really good fish and chips and great bread pudding. Then we went by a couple of potential voting sites before returning me home. It was a very enjoyable lunch break. In the evening I had dinner at church then watched Indiana win a basketball game. Sometime in the afternoon the computer became unable to provide online access.
Thursday started with the regular meeting with the guys. Later, I went to the post office, credit union, grocery and by the church. The computer access returned late enough in the afternoon that I did not post the blog today.

COMMENTARY: BAD NEWS FOR AMERICA
Few, if any, Americans who are proud of our country and have absolute belief in the great worth of our constitution can be anything but concerned about the future of
America now that Justice Antonin Scalia has passed away. I join with many others who believe he was the cream of the crop on the Supreme Court. Of the eight remaining Justices, I firmly believe that the three women and one man are much more attuned to their political belief than they are supporters of our constitution. I will pray that Justice Scalia will not be replaced on the Court until after we have a different President.

COMMENTARY: CARLY SUSPENDS CAMPAIGN

COMMENTARY: THE MEDIA AND CARLY
After her stellar performances in previous debate settings one should wonder as to why ABC decided to exclude Carly Fiorina from the most recent Republican debate. Linden believes he can provide you with the correct answer to that question: Hillary Clinton does not compare favorably with Carly Fiorina and the media is in the Hillary camp. No other reason makes sense. You may appreciate the related link below.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME lswift8@aol.com
Thursday started with breakfast with Chuck and Jack then on to a store and the post office. It snowed a little then turned sunny but remained cold. Carmen from Cardholder Services called again about noon: I quickly hung up. I did some paperwork in the afternoon but was not really productive.

COMMENTARY: REHASHING IOWA RESULTS
It is to be expected that the winner of an election such as the Iowa caucus will be fair game for attack so Linden was not surprised at all that it is get Ted Cruz season. Most of the attacks did not surprise with the exception of some disappointing words from Sarah Palin who had voiced support for Donald Trump. I hate to write anything even mildly critical of Sarah. Oh well, It is not worth thinking about.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME lswift8@aol.com
Wednesday started with biscuits and gravy at Chick-fil-A followed by trips to the post office, the credit union and a bank. Had a nice note from Alison and talked to Brian. In the evening I had dinner and attended a study at church. It was a good day and a lot busier than I'm making it sound.

COMMENTARY: THE IOWA CAUCUS
When this Presidential campaign began Linden blogged that his three favorites were Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, and Scott Walker so it should come as no surprise to you that he is pleased with the Cruz win in Iowa. What is particularly pleasing is the Cruz opposition to ethanol production. This was expected to hurt him in Iowa but it seems that the voters there are also getting tired of government overreach. A guy who is wildly unpopular with many in party leadership and the media can't be all bad. You may enjoy the article linked below.

Tuesday started with me going out for breakfast then on to my credit union, a bank, and the post office. I did two loads of wash and also some paperwork. Sometimes I feel that I am gaining on the things I need to do.
