Linden is referring to the common liberal problem of their apparent inability to judge themselves or other liberals on the basis of what they do rather than on how they live or how they act. Monday started with biscuits and gravy at Chick-fil-A, then on to a grocery and the post office. Later, got a haircut, Dan and Diana dropped by and John came to check on the computer. It was a much busier day than it sounds here.
