COMMENTARY: THE SOTU: 3 VIEWS

The President: Everything (almost) is just going swimmingly! Employment is booming, foreign policy is working well, we need free childcare and free college, we continue to fight terrorism, the world is warming, and we show the power of strength and diplomacy. Congress should know that I will veto bills I do not want to become law.

Joni Ernst: The results of the last election is a clear indication that the voters are not pleased with the direction the democrats have led our country. We, as Republicans, will work hard to bring the country back to individual prosperity and correct the mistakes of recent years.

Linden Swift: First, I believe that the only talent our President has is that he is an accomplished deliverer of the written word and I would rather watch rocks breed than listen to him talk. So much for possible bias! Regarding the SOTU speech, you should know that the unemployment rate means nothing, our foreign policy is a laughingstock worldwide, free means that those who are working will pay for it, our fight against terrorism now means releasing terrorists and not prosecuting others, and whether or not the world is warming is questionable to say the least. Congress should ensure that he is furnished good bills that he may veto. Enough for now.

Tuesday started with breakfast at Chick-fil-A then, shortly after, went to a good Chamber of Commerce luncheon: I wasn’t hungry. In the afternoon I was busy at home. In the evening I talked to Brian, watched some boxing and suffered through watching the SOTU address and the response given by Joni Ernst.
