WRITING EXERCISES +++
As one who dabbles with writing from time to time, Linden strongly believes that practice and engaging in writing exercises can be nothing other than beneficial to one who shares his interest. Therefore, today he brings you letter writing examples:

“Dear Resident:

About one week from now, you will receive a 2010 Census form in the mail. When you receive your form, please fill it out and mail it in promptly.

Your response is important. Results from the 2010 Census will be used to help each community get its fair share of government funds for highways, schools, health facilities, and many other programs you and your neighbors need. Without a complete, accurate census, your community may not receive its fair share.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Robert M. Groves
Director, U.S. Census Bureau”

Dear Bob,

If it is true that the postal service is suffering budgetary constraints due to the decrease in the number of mail pieces handled, I can well understand that those in that service are excited about your letter which states that you will be sending another letter. My guess is that we are talking about a total of at least 200,000,000 letters!

As a disgruntled taxpayer, I am not nearly as excited as those who may benefit from this one unnecessary letter. Although It may be that I will suggest to my creditors that they send me warning letters regarding their forthcoming bills, at this point I believe I would favor those responsible for the referenced letter being summarily dismissed.

Best personal regards,

Linden H. Swift

LINDEN'S LIFE
Tuesday brought an early morning Republican breakfast meeting—good food and presentations. Three of those who are running for Congress were present. Seemed to be on the run with one thing or another all day.
Wednesday brought my Study Buddy session at 9:00 and was busy from that point until dinner and the program at church in the evening.
Also, if you are so inclined, I have no problem with you sharing the above writing exercise with your friends.

GOOD WORKS
Thanks to those who purchased books or a CD or donated to the effort, we were able in 2009 to provide, through IDES, two goats, a water buffalo, and a fishing boat with net to needy families in third world countries.

In 2010 we will diversify this area of our good works. New recipients are:

January, TCM, Austria, ministry scholarship. http://www.tcmi.org/
February, local need, not part of original plan.
February, Hillsdale College. www.hillsdale.edu

The Book Nook, 33 E. Main, Mooresville is a local source of Linden’s books and CD.

Feel free to make others aware of this blog and our efforts.
