CLUELESS CHILDREN

Linden awakened with every intention of playing golf, possibly for the last time this year. The temperature was in the low thirties. Before tee time, he stopped for coffee and conversation with a small group of friends. Political conversation revolved around our agreement that poor representation by a few Republicans ultimately led to the wasting of the golden political opportunity presented by the congressional sweep of 1994. It was also suggested that, in most cases, a weak Republican is better for America than an above average democrat.

After spilling the remainder of his coffee (not hot enough to file suit) in his lap, Linden decided that walking the course with a wet lap was not his idea of fun. All further thought of golf was canceled and he proceeded to Chick-fil-A for biscuits and gravy and more coffee. After eating and working the daily Sudoku puzzle, he returned home. Now, on to the subject of this posting.

Yesterday, while awaiting the arrival of a luncheon companion, Linden leafed through a free newspaper and found a moderately interesting poll of 20 youngish (by Linden's standards) participants. The question: "Who is your favorite famous female and why?"

Not surprisingly, since I watch little television and am not much into hero worship type writings, I had never heard of the famous person mentioned by 8 of those polled. The others provided names of persons such as scientists, an actress, a singer, a couple of killers and so on.

It has been said that persons are liberal through their school and early work years and they become more conservative as they mature. I submit to you the possibility that many remain children for far too long after they should have reached the age of reason. Two of those polled (Those responsible for the name of this posting) listed, with weak reasoning, Hillary Clinton. Perhaps they will mature.
