CAPTIONING:
For the past year, Linden has frequently submitted captions for pictures or drawings made for a caption contest. Probably the first one he entered, about a year ago, he won! He does not remember the picture-it was Obama saying something to somebody, maybe Hillary. Linden’s caption was something like, “This Is What I Meant By Hope And Change! This one was a Gary Varvel drawing in The Indianapolis Star.
This past Friday, Linden was notified that he had won the May 15 Human Events contest. In it, Obama and Biden were in the eatery and Linden had Obama say: “You Want To Say A Prayer?” A link to this is given today in the LINKS section. Some of Linden’s losing entries are in the following notations.
Varvel: Bernard Madoff to a fellow inmate in a jail cell “…and my offense is picayune compared to that of Dodd and Frank!”
Human Events: Hillary and Michelle Obama facing but not looking at each other. Each has a slight smile on their face “It depends on what the meaning of ‘smile’ is.”
Human Events: Larry Summers sleeping through an Obama affair. “Only the very brave or the foolhardy can sleep through this debacle.”
There are others but who wants to focus on losing?

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Friday: Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00. Steve and Jerri Craney took me to see the play “Interpreting William.”
Saturday: Josh Bleill, who lost both legs above the knee in Iraq, gave a great talk at the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Kingsway. Avon Writers Group at 10:00.
Sunday: Church, Sunday School, brunch with friends and a report by a “Hurricane Ike” related mission trip for the topic at evening services. Ron, Norm, Jill, and I then went to a pizza place.

Linden’s CD “SONGS A POOR OLD POLICE DEPARTMENT RETIREE MIGHT WRITE … WHILE WAITING FOR HIS MEAGER PENSION CHECK” ($8.95) is a collection of 13 songs written and sung by Linden.
The book “OUTSTANDING NATIONAL LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCHERS OF THE LAST 42 YEARS” ($3.00) outlines Linden’s rating of those pitchers in the years 1946 through 1987.
Now that Linden’s 2009 sales have financed two goats for some of the needy in the world, his next goal is to fund the purchase of a water buffalo. Order at:
