SIX TURNCOATS:
The Republicans had been attempting to stop a massive spending bill from moving forward by means of a filibuster. Their efforts eventually came to naught.

Three democrats joined with the Republicans. They were Evan Bayh of Indiana, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, and Russ Feingold of Wisconsin. Certainly McCaskill didn’t cast her vote until she was sure that the filibuster would be broken. This may buy her some cover at her next election. The other two democrats may have followed her lead. Linden can think of no other reason for Feingold to vote as he did. Bayh has a history of attempting to look very conservative for the benefit of the voters back in Indiana. He is very slick.

Republican Senators Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Susan Collins of Maine, and Richard Shelby of Alabama voted with the democrat majority! Any one of those three could have either caused the filibuster to continue or cause one of the three democrats to change their vote. In Linden’s opinion, Cochran and Shelby do not quite make the grade as Conservative Republicans and Collins is well known for being a weak sister when it comes to desirable support. We should pray that all three will be replaced by a Conservative when they next face reelection.

In the links section immediately below, Linden brings you a very short, but funny, Bob Hope excerpt from a movie. Also, although Linden has never seen or listened to all of the opera Nabucco, the chorus offered today tugs at his heart.

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Bad dreams Sunday night! Made stops at four or five different places as I performed the running around for the day. Made some fairly good chicken soup for dinner.

LINDEN'S BOOKS AND CD:
Linden’s only distribution source, Secondhand Stories, closed November 20. He will need to find one or at most two new places to offers his one CD and eight books. Until then, if you must have one or more of his productions, I suppose you can contact him at LWDcomment@aol.com .

He still needs to sell a few more items to ensure funding of a fishing boat and net through IDES for some needy family. His 2009 efforts have already funded two goats and a water buffalo.

BIBLE STUDY:
DECEMBER 14
JONAH 1:11 – 4:11
The LORD commanded Jonah to go speak to those in Nineveh. He, instead, tried to run away. At sea, during a great storm, he was thrown overboard and was swallowed by a whale. After three days of repentance he was spat out onto dry land. He proceeded to Nineveh, gave his message, and they repented. Jonah was not happy with this ending.

REVELATION 5:1-14
Jesus is revealed to John. He is honored by the whole world and is given the sealed scroll to read.

PSALM 133:1-3
PROVERBS 29:26-27
