DISSENSION:
There has been a great deal of talk and writing about differences in opinion among Republican leaders as to how the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor should be addressed. Some think, since the democrats will vote as a bloc, that she will undoubtedly be confirmed and how one votes will not really matter. This thinking is wrong!

We have a Constitution! She should be judged suitable for confirmation only if she believes that all judicial decisions should be based upon the constraints of this document she will swear to uphold. Her previous high rate of decision reversals should cause any of those voting to question her adequacy. If that is not sufficient, then her belief that the courts should set policy and her emphasis on the findings of foreign courts should be enough to scuttle her nomination.

Any person voting for her confirmation should be opposed and defeated the next time they consider themselves to be qualified to serve in a position of leadership in our great country.

LINDEN'S LIFE:
The Friday Men’s Prayer Breakfast was great as were the church services on Sunday. Other than that, non-strenuous work around the place filled some of my time.

Kent and Donna came by for a short visit. He had just returned from a 24 man golf outing in Michigan. Up until just a few years ago, I attended this fun filled get together. He asked about the “LINDEN H. SWIFT MEMORIAL LAST PLACE AWARD.” It was previously given to the last place finisher and I had forgotten to furnish it. Guess I’ll have to find a copy. It is a large copy of the picture that appears on this posting. I had it taken to razz my kids.
