REPUBLICAN AGENDA
On September 10, Linden presented to you 10 items that he thought that the next Congress should attempt to accomplish. Now, Congressional Republicans have released a long agenda: although it contains only two of Linden’s suggestions, it marks a very great improvement over the direction of the current Congress. Following is a view of some of their ideas.

1. Honor the Constitution…particularly the 10th Amendment.
2. Make government more transparent.
3. Stop tax hikes.
4. Rein in red tape.
5. Roll back government spending.
6. Cancel TARP.
7. Reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
8. Reform budget process.
9. Repeal Obamacare.
10. Initiate small business tax deduction.
11. Stop 1099 reporting mandate.
12. Cut discretionary spending.
13. Cut the budget of Congress.
14. Hold weekly votes on spending cuts.
15. Freeze federal hiring.
16. Adopt a “sunset” program requirement.
17. Pass clean troop funding bills.
18. Improve border security.

LINDEN'S LIFE
My 18th birthday came in early January of 1948, my formal education was over for the time and although I don’t remember the exact sequence, I continued working some at an oil company and, later as a truck driver. As I had for maybe the past three years, I started seeing my Mother occasionally, as she was now in Indiana. I started getting seriously involved with a girl…my second real girlfriend. I was far too young and far too dumb for such a thing.

Four of us guys attended our breakfast meeting on Thursday…it, as usual, was enjoyable. Filled up the car with BP gas, bought some groceries, picked up a stack of junk mail and did little the rest of the day. Healthwise, felt good on Wednesday and not bad on Thursday. I did some great snacking on the bread and salami that was in the gift box that Sharon had sent to me. Good!!!
