Perhaps it is because of his years of military service that Linden believes that the patriotic songs of this nation should only be sung in a reverent manner. The caterwauling renditions of The Star Spangled Banner and America The Beautiful at Sunday’s Super Bowl were jangling noise to Linden’s ears. Surely a group from any one of our Service Academies would be better.

The news that our President had made a taxpayer funded trip to Minneapolis to talk about guns and that he had failed in his duty to submit a budget affected Linden much like the “music” did on Sunday. Leadership lessons are needed.

If I had known that I would be busier in my retirement years than I was when gainfully employed, I may never have opted for this lifestyle. Today was devoted to addressing mounds of paperwork interrupted by trips to the post office, grocery and having dinner at a restaurant. Tomorrow looks to be a replica of today.
