THURSDAY POLL:
The recent Values Voters straw poll in D.C. showed Huckabee to be the most popular among the voting attendees. Romney, Palin, Pawlenty and Pence essentially tied for second. Surprisingly, neither Gingrich or Jindal were in the top five. It is early and polls mean little at this stage and of course, this could be something other than a candidate suitability poll.

Feeling that our Thursday morning breakfast meeting should also have a poll involving the seven contestants mentioned above, Linden presented it and these were the results: (1) Pence, (2) Palin, (3) Romney, (4) Gingrich, and (5) Huckabee. Pawlenty edged out Jindal for last place. Pence, a well known Hoosier conservative, was hardly a surprise winner. Linden could easily support a Pence and Palin ticket.

Our breakfast meeting was the high point of the day: we laugh and tease a lot and Jack really got me once—fortunately I’ve forgotten the details. I did a little running around, some correspondence and little else of note.
