Perhaps it is because of his complete lack of trust in the beneficial effect of the TARP, Stimulus, and Healthcare bills that Linden has absolutely no faith in the likelihood of bills of greater length than 2,000 pages being of benefit to our country. The financial bill passed by the Senate on Thursday was 2,300 pages long. This bill was strongly supported by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, believed to be the two most responsible for our current problems in almost every area of major concern.

A Republican filibuster was averted when three Republican Senators, Scott Brown, Susan Collins, and Olympia Snowe joined the fifty seven democrats who voted for the bill. Time after time, the Republicans have been close to defeating some cockamamie disaster causing Congressional mistake. We should continue to thank those who work for our best interests.

As is generally true, we will not know the full details of the upcoming problems until a later date. Probably much later.

LINDEN'S LIFE
I remember hearing the above song, a sister and her husband had brought us a battery operated radio…we had no electricity in the pocket of poverty where we lived on the old family farm in Southern Indiana .It was now owned by my Uncle, who lived with us. It was the eighth year of the Roosevelt depression. My Dad was still ill but was able to work some…family income was probably less than three hundred dollars that year.
I was ten years old and was in the sixth grade when school started that fall…walked two miles to get to the one room school. That Christmas, my Mother came to our house for a few days and brought me a .22 rifle and some shells. I loved it. Wish I still had it.
The two major surprises in our Thursday breakfast meeting were that Chuck was not present and Jack arrived before I did. It was held at the Furman’s, it being Bill’s 75th birthday. Barbara prepared a great meal and we enjoyed our meeting.
Our church Golden Glows monthly luncheon was held at our Pier 14 youth facility. Great pitch-in meal and I was not hungry. Brian Leslie and some of the students presented information related to the upcoming trip to Cambodia. Two adults and eighteen students will be leaving next week. I ask you to pray for safety and blessings for our team as they travel and every possible benefit for those associated with the Rapha Houses.
