I'M SICK OF IT
Linden is not particularly smart, “well educated,” or gifted in any respect. However, he is capable of observing voting records that he considers to be contrary to the needs of our country. In case you have not noticed, the democrats in Congress have been almost unanimous in their support of the highly undesirable initiatives of President Obama. The Republicans have been just as solidly opposed. You would think all Republicans would look askance at any Supreme Court Justice this President would nominate. Not so!

Senator Lugar is smart, “well educated,” and somewhat gifted. So, it is not surprising that Linden is puzzled and perturbed over his announced intention to help put Kagan on the Supreme Court. His explanation is that the President should be granted great latitude in his selection of nominees. Using this “logic,” it is not difficult for Linden to visualize Senator Lugar saying, in a different time, “good job Judas” and “well done Benedict.” This is about the same way Linden views those who often say, “my good friend across the aisle.” Linden could just vomit!

LINDEN'S LIFE
John joined me at breakfast with Bill, Chuck, Jack and Paul. Good visit but we had to cut it short: John and Ruth had meetings on the East and South sides of Indianapolis and, since their car was not yet repaired, I loaned them mine. They did well in their meetings.

In reference to the music link: Linden was 11 years old in the fall of 1941, still attending the one room school in the poverty stricken replica of Appalachia in Southern Indiana. There were now two students in his seventh grade class. Our country was attacked by Japan in December and we were soon involved in the Second World War. This war brought an end to the long, long Roosevelt depression.
