MARK 6:1 - 56
In his hometown, the relatives of Jesus and those who remembered him from when he lived there had trouble recognizing the deity of Jesus.
Jesus gave his disciples special powers and sent them out, two by two, to preach and heal. They were successful in their efforts.
To please his wife, King Herod allowed John the Baptist to be beheaded.
Jesus fed a crowd of five thousand men plus women and children with five loaves of bread and two fish. There were twelve basketfuls of leftover food.
After this, the disciples started across the lake by boat and in bad weather. Jesus followed them, walking on water. He amazed the disciples by quieting the water. Upon crossing, large crowds came to be healed by Jesus.
