PEAK OIL + ANWR

PEAK OIL H/T Greg Garrison radio show w/Steve Buyer (R-I)

Peak oil is considered to be the point in time when oil production within an area reaches its peak and will decline from that point forward. For the U.S., that time was about 1970 and for the world, it is estimated to be around 2020. Due to recent major oil field discoveries, it is quite possible that with efficient management, both of these dates could be extended for many years.
Our congressional “leaders” have known of this situation for almost 40 years and have done little other than talk about pie-in-the-sky alternative energy. All talk, no deeds!

ANWR H/T www.humanevents.com Cassandra Kane, Roll Call on ANWR

Ms. Kane addresses the four disgraceful Senate roll call votes on the initiatives presented by President Bush. Before reading this, Linden did not believe that he could think less of the Senate as a body: He was wrong.
While studying these roll call votes in their entirety, the thought occurred to Linden that there was little thought continuity within this august group. It could even appear that agreement was reached before the votes in order to ensure passage of the wrong approach while providing maximum political cover for the voting members. If the rules required that all amendments be germane to the primary bill purpose, it would be much harder to play these political games. Of course, that would require positive action. Impossible!
If Linden read and interpreted the article correctly, only Senators Allen (R-VA) and Frist (R-TN) were both consistent and straight thinking. Does this mean that we should evaluate the desirability of retaining the other 98?

LINDEN'S LIFE
Wednesday brought several phone calls including Brian giving me an update on the short vacation trip he and Sheri took: They had a good time. Had some pictures that were taken at the Mission House developed. Went to the Chamber of Commerce and bought a plastic duck for the Fourth of July duck race down White Lick creek. Did a little (not much) work around the goldfish pond. Emails from Julie.
Thursday we had our usual breakfast meeting - I would bet that there are few groups of old men who enjoy their meetings more than we do ours. Luckily was home when one of the youth ministers came by to say that he had locked himself out of his office area and had left his key inside. Other than that, did a bit of writing.
