I WAS WRONG -- PART 1:
Linden has long believed that, from the political benefit to our country standpoint, the worst Republican is a better public servant than the best democrat. It is painful to admit that I was almost certainly wrong! Close but still wrong.

Linden has recently been contemplating the belief of some that all members of Congress should be voted against in the next election. He has been associating that thought with the “don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater” expression. As a long time member of Citizens Against Government Waste, it was fortunate that he received a copy of their publication which compared the voting records of the two parties which “serve” us. It clarified his thinking.

This report, which was for the 2008 session, rates members of Congress on a scale of 0 to 100 percent in relation to their support of 48 different spending matters which relate to taxpayers winning or losing. The categories were: Hostile, Unfriendly, Lukewarm, Friendly, Taxpayer Hero, and Taxpayer Superhero.

Averages showed democrats with 6%, Blue Dog democrats 10%, Republicans 70% Republican Study Committee 79%. Only one, a Republican of course, earned the Superhero rating of 100%.

The democrats had 34 members who earned a 0% rating and 225 of their 238 members were rated as being Hostile to taxpayers. None of the other 13 rose above the Unfriendly to taxpayers category.

Of the 197 Republican members, only 14 were in the Unfriendly to taxpayers category and none were as undesirable as the democrat average. As shown in the Republican average above, Taxpayer friendly is the most common category.

Rather than chance “throwing the Congressman out with the bathwater” Linden believes that you should identify those who are taxpayer unfriendly and seek to defeat them. This would include all of the democrats and you should seek primary opponents for the 14 Republicans listed below in State, District, and Name sequence.
