DIDN'T NANCY PROMISE?

Is Linden confused or didn’t Nancy Pelosi promise to do away with earmarks? Wasn’t that part of her early on talk about how this session of Congress would be such an improvement over the previous session? What a laugh!
Citizens Against Government Waste recently sent Linden their Waste Watch newspaper which touched upon the subject of pork barrel projects: It reported that in 2008, there were 11,610 such projects at a cost of over 17 billion taxpayer dollars. Thank you Nancy!
It reported that Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) was quoted in the January 4 (Linden’s birthday) Washington Times as follows: “Instead of conducting our business in Congress with an eye toward what is best for the whole country, we fight about what is best for our next election and who can get the most taxpayer dollars for his state or congressional district. This is not how our Founders intended Congress to function… but the system of earmarking has taken our energy and diverted it away from solving national problems and wasted it on the task of steering tax dollars back home. Earmarking results in a terrible waste of taxpayer money, but the greatest cost is the wasted opportunity to address serious national challenges.”
Who could argue with that thought?
