UNFORESEEN RICHES

Less than two weeks ago, Linden, in a depressed state, was studying his household budget. With some degree of certainty, it may be said that should never happen again.
Since then, he has received two emails from Africa, the first from The Ivory Coast and the second from Ghana. The first virtually promised to enrich Linden to the tune of five million dollars and the second upped the ante to eight million! Linden has not yet responded: Playing hard to get!
The emails came to the address that is mentioned in his blog postings. An individual usually finds it difficult to know if their writings are acceptable or not in the eyes of others. Linden believes that the generosity of these two wonderful benefactors leaves no doubt whatsoever that their hearts were touched by his writings. When time is available, he will review his postings in an attempt to ascertain exactly which posting resulted in this pot-of-gold falling into his lap.
Linden is just now starting to develop a list of important considerations in regard to handling this welcome turn of events: If you think of something that he has not listed, please advise. His current list is as follows:
(1.) Linden attempts to direct more than 10% of his income to the church and charity and goodwill enterprises. In the past, there has been no great difference between gross and net income so it made little difference which was used as the basis for giving considerations. Now, with 13 million bucks coming, of which 4 or 5 million will go immediately to taxes, it makes a great deal of difference. What to do!
(2.) A problem also arises in the area of how to direct a small portion of this windfall to his children, to relieve some of the day to day operation pressure, without causing them to feel that they could now quit striving on their own.
(3.) Directing a small portion of the fund to opposing the political forces of evil and to support of conservative values.
This is the current list: Linden’s mind is whirling!
