THE TEA PARTIES
Practically everything Linden has heard or read has led him to believe that on both a local and nationwide scale, the Tea Parties were an outstanding success. There were a couple of pooh-pooh type reports from some of the MSM who appear to be in the employ of those of the liberal bent.
Although Linden felt that the event may be a little to physically taxing for him to attend, our Thursday morning breakfast bunch was very well represented by Bill, Chuck and Paul. Their wives, Barbara, Mary Ann and Judy accompanied them – perhaps to ensure that they didn’t become too boisterous.
Items of interest included: Local talk radio host, Greg Garrison, saying this should cause us to focus upon future elections; a report of a Congressman being elected in Utah against great odds and with little financing because of grass roots support; and the overall decency of the crowd. Estimates of crowd size ranged from 2,000 to 15,000.
The messages on the signs Paul took were: THE FIX – TERM LIMITS; ENOUGH, STOP THE BAILOUTS, SPENDING, MORTGAGING FUTURE GENERATIONS, ENOUGH, CUT TAXES NOT DEALS, FREEDOM, LIBERTY, JUSTICE, STOP THE $PENDING. Well said!
Somewhat troubling to Linden was that it was reported that there were few, if any blacks or Hispanics in attendance. How can this be? Surely these societal groups share the concern about excess government spending and intervention. Surely they are not oblivious to the effect deficit spending of this magnitude will have on their future generations! It is unbelievable! Linden solicits enlightenment in this area: Send comments to the address given at the end of this posting.
Bill mentioned that while this rally was taking place on the South lawn of the Statehouse, the Legislature was inside passing a bailout bill. A radio report later addressed that puzzle by saying that this was only the first step and the final bill will be changed drastically. It will be interesting to see what the final product is and who votes for it.
During the course of the day, mention was made that future such events will undoubtedly occur. That is (or should be) welcome news.

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Having awakened far too early, I napped for a time after our Thursday breakfast meeting. I was awakened by a call regarding our upcoming veterans recognition program: It was time for me to wake up. Later, did a load of wash, wrote some, read some and did little else. I read an article about Susan Boyle and her appearance on a British TV program: Found a video clip on You Tube and it brought tears to my eyes. Click the following link for a great read.
