PUBLIC SAFETY:
Linden believes that most of those involved in providing public safety for the populace are largely unsung heroes. It was with no approval that he read two page two articles in the Wednesday Indianapolis Star that had to do with that subject. The articles, although well written, were, in Linden’s estimation, unfairly critical of an officer of the law.

It seems that a Harvard professor of black studies returned from vacation and was observed, with a helper, breaking into his home. The observer called 911 and an officer was dispatched to the scene. He, of course, had to be aware that great personal danger often exists in what may be a home burglary situation.

According to reports, the professor was not thankful at all that there was warranted concern for his belongings. In fact, it appears that he was uncooperative and abusive. The officer went to the porch; the professor followed and remained loud and abusive. He was arrested. He claimed to be a victim of racial profiling and wants an apology. The city said it was regrettable and unfortunate and, apparently, the charges were dropped.

Linden believes that the professor should have been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, that your president displayed shocking ignorance when he said the police force acted stupidly, that the officer involved should sue the professor and the professor and Harvard should apologize.

Apart from this incident, questions do exist. Exactly why are some being paid big bucks to be purveyors of wisdom in the area of black studies? If this is a truly desirable field of study, would it not be equally desirable to provide European-American, Asian-American and other related expensive time wasting fields of study?

LINDEN'S LIFE:
What a great day! Although Bill was absent, we had an enjoyable breakfast meeting. After I returned home, Jack called, said he forgot to bring me some food and then brought it over. I ran some errands, ended up at the post office and that wonderful Katia had sent me three Danish Kringles. I did a couple loads of wash and for dinner I heated up the food that Jack brought and followed that with a warm slice of apricot Kringle. I’m happy when I eat well. I did other stuff but I’d rather think about food right now.
