I WAS WRONG -- PART 2:
Although it was not so stated, the posting yesterday concerned only the House of Representatives. Today we will consider the Senate.
Linden has long believed that, from the political benefit to our country standpoint, the worst Republican is a better public servant than the best democrat. It is painful to admit that I was almost certainly wrong! Close but still wrong.
Linden has recently been contemplating the belief of some that all members of Congress should be voted against in the next election. He has been associating that thought with the “don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater” expression. As a long time member of Citizens Against Government Waste, it was fortunate that he received a copy of their publication which compared the voting records of the two parties which “serve” us. It clarified his thinking.
This report, which was for the 2008 session, rates members of Congress on a scale of 0 to 100 percent in relation to their support of 42 different spending matters which relate to taxpayers winning or losing. The categories were: Hostile, Unfriendly, Lukewarm, Friendly, Taxpayer Hero, and Taxpayer Superhero. Averages showed democrats with 4% and Republicans with 72% out of the possible 100% rating.
The 100 member Senate was broken down into 51 democrats or democrat clones and 49 Republicans. The democrats had 49 members who were rated as Hostile to taxpayers (17 were rated at ZERO) and 2 who were only unfriendly! Only one Republican was rated as low as unfriendly while 14 were considered to be Taxpayer Heroes.
Rather than chance “throwing the Congressman out with the bathwater” Linden believes that you should identify those who are taxpayer unfriendly and seek to defeat them. This would include all of the democrats and you should seek a primary opponent for the lone Republican disgrace shown below.

Attended an early morning Republican breakfast meeting. Had good food and a very interesting speaker. Later, went to the post office and credit union, did some ironing and got caught up on some paperwork I had been attempting to ignore for quite a while.
