GOLDEN GLOWS

Usually once each month, the group of oldsters "Golden Glows" associated with the Plainfield, IN Christian Church meet for a pitch-in luncheon and normally have a guest speaker. Peggy Hileman is the driving force behind these meetings and the other events the Golden Glows engage in. Most meetings open with prayer and perhaps other statements from one of the church ministerial staff.
Todd Dillon opened our July 10 meeting with a talk on his "survival kit." It was a small plastic bag, such one may have to put items in for airline travel, filled with the following items:
TOOTHPICK- To help in picking out the good things.
BAND AID- To promote healing.
ERASER- To remove those things that are best forgotten.
RUBBER BAND- To remind of flexibility.
TEA BAG- Slow down and relax.
CHEWING GUM- Stick to it, don't give up.
TAPE- Stick together with others.
TAPE MEASURE- Measure my words.
COFFEE FILTER- Filter out negative talk.
A MINT- You are worth a mint in God's eyes.
CANDY KISS- Express love.
PENCIL- Write down and count your blessings.

This kicked off a good meetings and Linden should add that Plainfield must have the best cooks in the world.

LINDEN'S LIFE
On Wednesday, Linden performed the usual running around and other household related tasks, had the ink in his printer cartridge refilled, and worst of all, noticed a water drip coming through the living room ceiling: Bad hot water heater. Kent recommended a plumber, Linden called and they both came over in the evening. Linden had no hot water for a while.
On Thursday, there was the above referenced Golden Glows affair, the plumbers replaced the water heater while Linden was enjoying his luncheon, Cheryl, who now lives about 70 miles away, came by for a visit after the meeting. Lisa (Rubye's daughter) called from Florida while she was driving to meet a niece for dinner. She was there for a work related convention. Nice long visit with her. Brian also called and I received several emails from Julie. A good day and it is nice to have hot water again.
