COMMENTARY: FACTS VS. THE MEDIA

Linden has reached the point where he believes almost nothing that the media tells him: even the weather reports. On December 30, while listening to talk radio, he heard a caller state that Obama had brought us low gas prices after inheriting high gas prices from the previous President. The talk show host failed to convince him of his error. The truth, at least in Linden’s eyes, is that gas was slightly lower when Obama assumed office than it is now and he wanted it to go higher so he could more easily justify wasting huge sums of money on green energy scams. COMMENTARY: COMPARING ACTIONS

Although Linden did not agree with every action taken by President Bush he would rate him much higher in value to the American Taxpayer than he would rate President Obama. The article linked below compares the general approach to life between these two Presidents.

Breakfast at Chick-fil-A was the start of my out-and-about day then it was on to my credit union and picking up post office mail. Shortly after returning home John came by to answer a question or two about my upcoming project. In the afternoon Brian and Sheri came over from Ohio. We went out for dinner at the Irish pub, had a great meal and wonderful visit for a few hours. My Christmas holiday could not be improved.

On Friday, Julie, Jade, and Kenneth came by for a bit before they headed back home…great to spend some time with them. I went to the post office and a gas station. Dan and Diana came by for a bit in the afternoon.

Saturday brought a great breakfast at the Avon Legion Post and I watched I.U. lose a basketball game in overtime.

Sunday brought church and Sunday School attendance. Later, I watched the Colts win a football game and Butler win a basketball game. I’m becoming a bit concerned that my current Bless A Stranger project, mentioned above, may be the first one I have backed that does not reach it’s goal.

COMMENTARY: MY 2014 CHRISTMAS

Yesterday, Christmas Day, was a very good day for me and I think I will celebrate it today by not bringing to your attention some matter of possible political interest that would probably be upsetting. Several friends provided me with snacks and remembrances, Julie, Kenneth, and Jade came by for a few hours of treasured enjoyment and I had a very nice phone visit with Brian and Sheri. Since the commentary above is about me, I’ll just repeat yesterday’s note.

Wednesday started with breakfast at Chick-fil-A then on to the post office where I received a book, the result of one of my Bless A Stranger efforts…I hoped that it would arrive in time for me to give to Jade. On Christmas Eve Julie, Jade, and Kenneth came and we had a good dinner at a Mexican Restaurant then on to church for the Candlelight Communion service. Then Don and Donna gave a plate of sweets and a large container of peanut butter filled pretzels, earlier, Kent brought cookies, snacks, and food that Donna had prepared, and late in the evening Mike brought the same type of gift that Brenda had prepared. I am so blessed. Lastly, I watched “A Christmas Story.” It hadn’t changed from previous years. I had a great day!

Tuesday started with me dropping off recyclables then going on to the post office and the credit union. Stayed moderately busy at home the rest of the daylight hours. In the evening met two cousins, each a little older than my children and about 30 years younger than me, for dinner and conversation. Enjoyed it.

COMMENTARY: NOT MY FAVORITE POSTING

The article linked below is well written and, I believe, factual. I agree, but wish it were not so. We who have not served in the legislative capacity probably cannot imagine the pressures that come with the job but we do have a conviction regarding what dedicated service should provide. Now, we need to hope and pray that the days to come will bring a concentrated effort to cure many of the ills brought within the last six years.

Friday started with Men’s Prayer Breakfast at PCC: had a pitch-in for food and a good lesson delivered by Steve White. In the evening I joined a large group of mostly old friends for a most enjoyable time.

Saturday started with the guys at Kingsway CC: good meeting! Later I had a good phone visit with Brian then watched I.U. win a basketball game.

Sunday started with church and Sunday School attendance followed by brunch with friends. Later, I watched the Colts lose a game…badly.

More frequently than I wish it were, I receive notice of the anniversary of the line-of-duty death of an Indiana State Trooper. Today marks the 11^th such anniversary of the death of Trooper Scott A Patrick: shot and killed by a criminal. A link to a related video follows:

Linden would be a poor grandfather if he had no concerns about the future his grandchildren may be facing. Certainly among the concerns are the cost and related employment value of college. COMMENTARY: CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME

As is true of many conservatives (and relatively few liberals,) Linden is a big believer in using a portion of his monthly budget to bless those he deems to be worth supporting financially. COMMENTARY: SHATTERED HOPE AND BELIEF

Not for nothing is it called a lame duck session: this duck was lame mentally as well. Linden’s hope was that the session result would be either a shortened continuing budget resolution or a shutdown of non-essential government functions. There are few essential government functions! Linden’s hope was dashed and his belief that the Indiana delegation would lead the way in delivering responsible legislation was dashed as well. It is getting more difficult to believe that the worst Republican legislator is better for America than the best democrat legislator.

Friday brought the usual earl morning Men’s Prayer Breakfast followed by the normal household tasks. In the evening Don and Donna invited four couples and me to their home for a great meal and a fun filled time.

Saturday I had a writers group meeting at the home of Steve and Joyce. It was enjoyable and the food provided was great. Watched I.U. win a basketball game.

Sunday brought church and Sunday School attendance: Jerray Allison and Diana McKowen told me that Dimi Kirk, who I met in Austria seven years ago, was taken to a Los Angeles area hospital as she, her husband, and daughter came to see Kevin’s parents. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was mentioned on our class prayer concerns listing. She will be the subject of my prayers on a continuing basis. In the afternoon, I watched the Colts win a football game and watched parts of Butler losing a basketball game. In the evening, went to a musical program at church.

COMMENTARY: BEST THEY COULD DO?

Considering that the democrat controlled Senate had many opportunities to address the budget in a timely manner by passing House passed budget bills but Harry Reid would not take action, maybe the last minute House passage of the deeply flawed budget bill is not all bad. We’ll see. At the moment, Linden feels that a partial shutdown of the government would have been a better approach. The incoming Republican controlled House and Senate is faced with the monstrous task of correcting the errors of the last six years: they will need strong dedication to SERVING the taxpaying public.

On Thursday I had breakfast with the guys, six of us present and Wayne missing…he has had some health concerns. Later, I did some paperwork, messed with the computer problem some, went to the post office, a bank, gas station and a grocery. Corresponded with Julie. I have great hope that the recent computer problems are now completely a thing of the past.
