THE DEMOCRAT APPROACH
Most people capable of rational thought realize that one cannot spend more than they receive forever. One must make more (raise taxes) reduce spending, or both. Pretty basic. democrats understand the raise taxes portion of this equation. Their understanding of reducing spending is reflected in the area between the two sets of question marks below.

BITTER DAZE AHEAD
It goes without saying that Linden would have much preferred to title this piece “Better Days Ahead” but that would almost certainly be dishonest. My opinion: the democrats call for bipartisan action, insist on raising taxes, and refuse to advance any suggestions for spending cuts. Regardless of any other action by the current Congress, If Obamacare remains the law of the land your taxes will go up January 1, the expiration of our current taxing laws will result in increased taxes on that same date. When will the democrats offer a solution to excessive taxation? The answer is not until after people quit believing that it is all the fault of the Republicans. If you voted for this regime, then perhaps you deserve the daze you will suffer starting January 1. Perhaps the link below will provide food for thought:

HENDRICKS COUNTY IN ELECTION
Of course Linden knows that it has been three weeks since the election but it will take much longer to recover from those disappointing results. Back in the day when Linden was much more politically active, it was unthinkable that the democrats would win a precinct in Hendricks County. Now, there are 103 precincts and Obama won three of them. Drat! In the Senatorial contest, Mourdock only won 90 of the precincts and in the Gubernatorial race Pence also lost 3 precincts. Getting old is not all fun!

On Monday I picked up my mail and did little until 12:30 when I met Laura Herzog for lunch at Corky’s in Danville. She is the Hendricks County Elections Supervisor and I have long believed that there can be none  superior to the operation in Danville. At 3:00 I got a haircut then slowed down for the rest of the day. Talked to Julie who is still not feeling well and to Alison.

LIBERTARIANS LOVE OBAMA?

LIBERTARIANS LOVE OBAMA?
Libertarians are generally considered much more closely aligned with the Republican Party than they are with the democrats. However, if we are to judge based upon results, we only need to look at the 2012 results of 3  Senate and 5 House races to see that the Libertarians fielding a Presidential candidate had a decidedly favorable democrat result. See vote totals below.
SENATE:
Indiana   d. 1,268,407  R. 1,126,832  L. 146,453
Montana   d.234,465  R.  215,701  L.  31,287
Ohio   d.  2,645,501  R.  2,371,230  L.  241,102
HOUSE:
Arizona 1  d.117,422  R. 109,508  L. 14,450
Arizona 9  d.108,056  R. 101,089  L. 14,361
Mass. 6  d. 179,603 R. 175,953  L. 16,668
N.H. 1  d. 171,356  R. 158,482  L.  14,968
Utah 4  d. 108,275  R. 105,629  L. 5,703

We can expect these vote totals to be further slightly adjusted but, it would seem that the Libertarian candidate had virtually no chance of winning and, further, that if they had chosen what they probably considered to be the lesser of two evils, the Republicans would have more Congressional power and the country should benefit accordingly.

THANKSGIVING DAY
This day of thanksgiving has been celebrated in the U.S. since in the early days of our country and became an official holiday, they say, in 1863. It is becoming a day of anticipating sales events although time with family and friends remains important. Personally, Linden is inclined to focus on some of the words remembered from the CDCMF meeting this past Monday: “An Attitude of Gratitude” and “Things Could Be Worse.” Linden is blessed with wonderful children and friends and so many other things that a portion of this day, practically all days, is spent thanking God.

NO, it wasn’t really a black day…the racist democrats in Florida prevailed against Allen West in his race for a Congressional seat by (by hook or crook) causing West to abandon his vote recount effort. On Tuesday, I went out for breakfast and on to a grocery, the post office, church, and Pier 14. Before going to breakfast, I had taken the change out of my leather change holder where I also keep my credit card: the credit card was gone! I last used it at Chicago’s Pizza so went there and was told that they would have called me if the card had been found and to look carefully through likely places. I went out to the car, looked through the change holder again and then my billfold…there it was! I had never before put it there. Happy day!! I had dinner at the Legion Post and then watched two late basketball games: Butler beat North Carolina and Indiana beat Georgetown in overtime.

SANTA CLAUS
Some weeks ago Rush Limbaugh mentioned the free gifts mentality of those currently administering federal programs…he referred to it as “Santa Claus.” Since then, many Republicans and others sadly referred to this as being highly undesirable rhetoric. What if it is true?? Not only should it be referred to often and loud, it should be trumpeted that much of this profligate spending is contrary to the wishes of THINKING taxpayers. Much of this problem could be rectified by spending reductions…after all, saving a billion one thousand times would equal most of our current deficit spending situation. The link below provides an illustration.

With a huge amount of money available to many candidates, Linden was careful in his selection of those to whom he would allocate a portion of his limited funds. Later, I attended a writers group meeting and, even later watched I.U.lose a football game.

HOW CAN THIS BE?
Continuing to have difficulty understanding or accepting the results of the last election, Linden did a bit of research regarding some of the results. Some are really difficult to deal with! There were some reports of Counties where the number of votes cast exceeded the number of registered voters: this would seem to be mathematically impossible. Considering the absolutely horrendous record in many areas of the Obama administration, the following is hard to accept. It was reported that some large urban areas… 59 in Philadelphia, 37 in Chicago and 9 in Cleveland, there was not a single vote cast for Romney while thousands were cast for Obama. Does insanity reign supreme? In a slightly related report it was said that maybe 3 precincts in Utah had gone 100% for Romney…none of these had as many as 20 voters.

If we can believe the news media (and that is more easily said than done) David Petraeus has admitted to a relationship with a woman while married to another. Bill Clinton who denied and went to great lengths to conceal the true nature of his relationship with a young intern who was under his control. He was ultimately found guilty. Linden is of the type who believes that a person who will lie in regard to their wedding vows should never be considered a paragon of virtue. God makes it possible for us to be forgiven for any sin we may commit but for those who fail to take advantage of his generosity, Judgment Day could be a very bad day.

SOME ELECTIONS CELEBRATED
Linden has lightly touched upon election day disasters: now, he will, just as lightly, touch upon a few of the many results that are true causes for celebrations. The first that comes to mind is the return of Michele Bachmann to serve in the House. Next may be the Texas election of Ted Cruz to the Senate. Tom Cotton of Arkansas was a welcome addition to the House. Here in Indiana we had Jackie Walorski win the 2nd District seat previously held by a democrat and Susan Brooks ensuring that the 5th District, House seat previously represented by Dan Burton, remains in the Republican fold. There are many other such causes for celebration scattered across the nation. Linden will continue to support all efforts to reduce needless spending. The White House is where a major reduction in discretionary funding should be addressed as the first of many worthwhile steps in that area.

THOUGHTS RE ELECTION DAY
Certainly Linden has made no secret of the fact that he considers the reelection of President Obama to be a personal, family, religious, and American disaster. Following are notes regarding only some other elections of interest to Linden.

Mia Love ran for the House in Utah. Her loss, influenced by a Libertarian was hard to take.
Carlos May ran for the House in Indiana. Any loss to the continuation of the Carson dynasty is very disappointing.
Voter fraud is charged in the probable very disappointing loss of Allen West in Florida.
Next to the election of Obama, the loss of Richard Mourdock in his Indiana race for a Senate seate is probably the biggest disappointment.

BROKEN ARM VS. CANCER
Certainly we all know that a broken arm is not a pleasant experience but surely no thinking person would say they would prefer cancer to a broken arm. Linden compares many of the recent election results to the majority of the voters in many races evidencing a preference for the cancer of the current Presidency and many other democrat controlled offices to the likely less damaging effect of electing their opponents. Can you imagine a caring and knowledgeable electorate providing Harry Reid with leadership of the Senate again? Linden cannot imagine such “thinking”!

BETTER WORDS THAN MINE
Linden remains in an election induced foul mood. So, feeling unable to express himself, he searched for just the right words…they appear in the below link.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
Wednesday brought more horrendous election news. Breakfast at Chick-fil-A, trip to the post office, did a load of wash, visited John and Tricia, and, in the evening, had dinner and attended a class at church. Earlier, talked to both Brian and Julie. At breakfast, it was raining and I was told that God is weeping and that the speaker’s husband had apologized to their daughter for the extra burden this election will cause her to bear.

GOODBYE AMERICA?
As is true of most people, Linden has some difficulty talking or writing about some of those things that are nearest and dearest to his heart. Therefore, no political words of wisdom for you today.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
On Tuesday, I took Enoch and Sam to the Sunshine Café for breakfast, had good food and a good visit. Their friends Joshua and Victoria, also from Ghana and now students at Cincinnati Christian U., came up and they invited me to the Mission House for a Ghanaian meal…it was good and we had a pleasant time. Paul and Judy came by for a short visit…Judy brought me some pineapple upside down cake…good! I went to bed before the worst of the election night disaster news was broadcast.

TIME FOR PRAYER

TIME FOR PRAYER
Lord God I come to you praying for guidance for those involved in selecting the leadership of our nation. Please cause them to think seriously about the present condition of the country in many respects…from devotion to You to our impossible approach to financial management. I realize that You have given us a great amount of freedom of choice but it seems that the choices made have not worked too well. Please provide the guidance that is needed in all areas of our lives. Thank you.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
Breakfast at Chick-fil-A followed by trips to the gas station, grocery, post office and by the church. Addressed a call from the Mission House regarding internet connection, put my new license plate on the car, and not a lot else of any great significance. Dan dropped by in the afternoon for coffee and talk.

SELECTING SENATORS

SELECTING SENATORS
To change the direction in which our country is heading we must rid ourselves of our current President and cause the democrats to lose control of the Senate. If both of these things are not accomplished, Obamacare will not be repealed and our country will remain in a stagnant economic condition. For the Republicans to gain control of the Senate, they must retain all ten of their contested seats and win at least four of the 23 seats now held by democrats or their two Independent supporters.

In the most recent ratings by The Council For Citizens Against Government Waste 13 of the 23 democrats running for seats now held by that party are considered to be hostile to taxpayers, 5 waver between being hostile and unfriendly, 2 were rated as unfriendly, and 3 were not rated. Of the 10 Republicans running to protect seats controlled by that party, 4 were rated as being Taxpayer Heroes, 3 were taxpayer friendly, and 3 not rated. Of the 10 democrats running for these seats, 2 were rated at hostile to taxpayers and 8 were not rated. It would seem that if you are not a simpleton, not opposed to the foundations of our country, or willfully ignorant you will support the Republican Senatorial candidates.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
Friday started with attendance at the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00. In the afternoon, I went to the Judith Jackson Davis calling…she and the Jackson family lived across the street from my home about 25+ years ago. Enoch and Sam from Ghana moved into the Mission House.

Saturday brought the Men’s breakfast meeting at Chapel Rock CC. Later, talked to Brian and exchanged E-mails with Julie. Watched a very good and very close I.U. win in a football game.

Sunday brought church and Sunday school attendance and watching a Colts victory in a football game. Went to the church building fundraising dinner in the evening…it was very nice.

TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY

TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY
These words, which led to the creation of The TEA Party effort, are sure enough true. The problem is not the amount of revenue to the various governmental units, it is the absolute failure to manage the budgeting process. At this point, I should point out that the Senate, under the control of democrat Harry Reid, has opposed fiscal sanity at every turn.

The TEA Party in Indiana supports the Senatorial aspirations of Richard Mourdock, believing that he will be a strong voice for conservative action in the Senate. Citizens Against Government Waste rates his opponent, formerly a House member, as being hostile to taxpayers. Please support those Conservatives who are now running for elective office.

MOSTLY ABOUT ME       lswift8@aol.com
Thursday started with our regular pleasant breakfast meeting. Later, I went to the post office and credit union. In the evening, Kent took me to Bloomington to see the first I.U. basketball game of the season: he has season tickets. Indiana Wesleyan played a good game but I.U. was much stronger. Haley, the daughter of the couple sitting next to us is a freshman cheerleader for I.U.: lots of energy! Walking to our seats provided me with more exercise than I normally get in any one day. Had a good time!
