A PAINFUL POSTING

If you are even a short term reader of this blog you are well aware that Linden believes, in general, that democrats have the wrong view of what is good for our country. Because of this view, he advocates voting against all democrats all the time.

Since, unfortunately, some of the Republicans have been infected with the same mind rot that has long infected the democrats, we need to identify these miscreants and use the following primary election to consign them to the ash heap of history. If during this process we become aware of a democrat worth retaining we will make note of that fact.

Linden is an old man but, if he lives long enough, he fully intends to provide a bit of support to the primary election opponent of those he names as having outlived their usefulness to the Republican party and thereby their country. This list now contains three names: Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania.

Republicans who support the effective reclassification of Washington, D.C. to State status and/or attach “earmarks” to appropriation bills are likely to join those on the above list.

OBAMA TO CONGRESS + BOBBY JINDAL

The speech was well written and, as usual, Obama read it well. It may have contained some areas that were not entirely truthful… but, speechwriters are not commonly known for their honesty.

Nothing in the speech caused Linden to think that his tax contributions will be well spent. Nothing caused him to think that those who follow him will benefit from this administration. Looking at the democrat tax cheaters failed to inspire confidence. The attitude and action of those in Congress was juvenile. So, overall it was a waste.

Mitch McConnell, R-KY, was quoted as saying “All Americans were proud eyewitnesses to history as an African-American President addressed a joint session of Congress for the first time. Linden is not that easily influenced.

Bobby Jindal spoke well enough but he does not generate a fraction of the excitement of Obama. He does, however, make more sense. One has to wonder what Sarah Palin would have done with that opportunity: Surely she would have mentioned Chris Dodd and Barney Frank and their involvement in creating this crisis. Linden would be more comfortable with either Jindal or Palin in the oval office.

DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW

Linden recently either heard or read a report that our new Interior Secretary, Ken Salazar, had lengthened the time available to protest the decision by former President Bush to open up new U.S. lands for oil and gas exploration. Naturally, environmental groups applauded this decision.

It is hard to believe that many of the people who were adversely affected by the fairly recent gas prices in the $4.00 range were part of the applauding group.

Prices at the pump have been gradually inching upward as those responsible for drilling and refining realize that the current administration does not really care how much suffering they may cause the often unaware public and that they are quite happy enriching those in the Mideast. Sickening!

GLOOMY OUTLOOK

An Indianapolis Star article which was attributed to Lori Montgomery and Cecil Connolly of The Washington Post announced that President Obama plans to chop the deficit in half by 2013.

Since our 2009 deficit promises to be the largest in the history of our nation and since announced spending plans promise little relief in the next three budget years then it appears that his goal is to be responsible for the highest budget in history for the years prior to his election. Linden proposes that this is not a worthwhile goal. It is troubling that the writers did not address this.

Coupled with this is Obama’s announced intention to raise taxes, particularly for businesses and those most likely to lead the way to financial health. Could it be that you have elected a President who will be even worse than President Carter??

I HOPE IT WAS COLD IN NYC

Linden, having finished reading the paper, turned to his favorite news source: Talk radio. Two or three items were presented which were of interest. It appeared that print media was either unaware or uninterested in them.

Talk radio indicated that our new president was not met with complete approval in New York City, Chicago and in Arizona. It seems that he was even laughed at while speaking at a high school.

The most interesting, to Linden, was the report that perennial racist agitator Al Sharpton had organized a protest in front of a New York City newspaper to call attention to a cartoon that he may have misunderstood. Of course, the possibility exists that he merely wanted to call attention to himself and did not misunderstand at all.

The cartoon shows two policemen standing over a chimp that has been shot. One is saying, “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.” Those who are “offended” say that they think the chimp represents Obama. They are apparently unaware that Pelosi and Reid wrote this last monstrosity so the bill must represent one of them. How smart are those who pretend to be offended?? Linden hopes that it was very cold in New York City as they protested.

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS

Linden willingly admits that he has some reservations about our current President. Linden believes that the “stimulus” type bills are little more than massive theft from those who are considered to be achievers. Obama apparently does not agree! Linden believes that weakening our national security is foolish, at best. Obama appears to not agree! Linden believes that baby killers and those who support them are likely to spend eternity in a very warm place. Obama must not agree!

Linden is well aware that his writings do not compare favorably with those of Kyle-Anne Shiver. But, he is no less sincere. See: http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/02/barry_honey_can_we_talk_about_2.html

All of that said, it is remotely possible that Linden and Obama do share a disdain of the greenies: How else would if be possible for him to make recent unneeded flights to Illinois, Colorado and Arizona??

DIVORCE REDUCTION

Ordinarily Linden would feel ill prepared to post on this subject: His track record is not good. However, after hearing reports of a New York Muslim man beheading his wife because she had filed for divorce, Linden now feels better prepared to address the subject. He looked in the “news” paper for a mention of the incident but perhaps they only speak of Christian aberrant behavior.

It would seem that if this beheading practice became widespread, it would slow divorce court activity to practically a standstill. Perhaps then we could expand the practice to include other undesirable behavior – such as address those who voted for Obama. Just a thought!

HIRING GOOD HELP

Practically every person who is or has been involved in the hiring process is aware that the success of their organization is largely dependent upon their ability to select the right person for the job.

Politically speaking, voters are those who are responsible for filling positions within our government. If the voter is ill prepared, irresponsible, or just plain stupid, they can not be fired for their lack of demonstrated ability. Mores the pity.

In regard to the recently passed “stimulus” bill, 306 of those elected voted for passage and 221 voted against. Of the 306 voting for the bill, 303 were democrats (maybe a couple of them are called “Independent.) Of the 221 voting against the bill, 214 are Republicans. It is believed that not a single person from either party had actually read the entire bill. Disgusting!

It makes perfect sense to vote against a bill that you have not been allowed to read in its entirety. It is really hard to justify voting for a bill you have not read – particularly one that so completely mortgages the lives of present and future taxpayers.

Linden believes that if you can honestly claim to be a responsible voter, you will endeavor to bring about the defeat of the 306 disgraced persons who voted for this bill the next time they run for office. He will.

MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING

We are all somewhat aware of the basic idea behind this type of marketing: Products or ideas are brought to life by the “central office,” riches are promised, representatives are found who will benefit if they find other representatives and maybe this plan will extend through several layers of organization.

Some believe that political multi-level marketing originated in Chicago. If not, they became familiar with the approach both easily and early. And now, what do we have?

For starters, let us consider these names: Daschle, Dodd, Frank, Geithner, Holder, Jefferson, Killifer, Pelosi, Raines, Reid, and Richardson. There are undoubtedly others who belong on this list which does not include any of the willing stooges in the MSM. This list does take us from Connecticut and Massachusetts to California and Nevada and several places between these extremist left wing strongholds.

Somebody is gonna get rich from this marketing plan!!!

PATIENCE

First, Linden should explain why he failed to make his usual posting yesterday: For some unknown reason, the computer absolutely failed to cooperate in a timely manner and since the schedule for the day was rather tight, it just didn’t get done. Sorry.

Now, to the subject: It may surprise you to learn that in some instances, Linden is not the most patient person in the world. This most often is noticeable when he is dealing with technology. His temper became short on Tuesday when he was attempting to see the screen on his cell phone while attempting to converse with a person who was a little hard to understand. He became so obnoxious that he had to apologize to the customer service agent.

Linden’s patience was also somewhat short when he was listening to a recording of a couple of people who were speaking to President Obama. They seemed to think that their personal life was the responsibility of the government and nothing much was required of themselves. Uggggh.

Patience also comes into play when it is noted again and again that our new Treasury Secretary bombed in his “this is how we fix everything” presentation. How many times was it said that no other person could possibly do the job he stepped into and perhaps for no other reason we should overlook his disgraceful approach to paying taxes. Patience with the media is gone.

Our 8:00 breakfast meeting was held at Jack and Helen’s home. Helen fixed breakfast and it was good for us to be together. I took a chocolate cake (purchased) to our “Golden Glows” pitch in luncheon. Dottie Meyer spoke regarding the involvement she and Jim have with TCMI’s Haus Edelweiss in Austria. Several of our group have served there and it brings pleasant memories. Dottie will leave next week to go back there and she is taking a couple of presents from me to the former student I met there and her new husband. I enjoyed reading Kyle-Anne Shiver’s American Thinker pieces of February 11 & 13.

IF IT WERE NOT SO SAD

It would be almost funny to watch those who put these inept “leaders” in charge of our government as they come to realize what a horrible mistake they made in the voting booth.

Just yesterday, as Linden watched the stock market suffer another triple digit loss, as astute investors realized that the future does not look bright for our once capitalist society, Linden wondered how those who elected our leaders feel about their own investments, businesses and 401k accounts. It would be almost funny…

Just yesterday, as Linden read a small Internet report (naturally it would never be reported by my “news” paper) about what the aging population may expect from the changes in our health care system: A government bureaucrat may decide that you are not worthy of further health care. It would be almost funny…

Just yesterday, Linden wondered at what point the youth of our nation, who were gaga over the “hope” and “change” line, will realize the negative impact these massive spending bills will have on all their future years. I would be almost funny…

THEY EAT THEIR YOUNG

A quick Internet search revealed that baboons, hamsters, lions, mink, muskrats, polar bears, prairie dogs, rats and voles are among those who may kill and even eat their own young as well as the young of others.

Linden likens this activity to that of our own U.S. Congress. They, by means of this “stimulus” obamanation are, Linden fears, in the process of making life much, much more difficult for those in the generations which will follow. Our Congress, by and large, has no shame, ability and/or decency.

Linden is proud to report that not a single one of those for which he has voted are expected to vote for this monstrosity. To him, this means that some of you have little regard for his succeeding generations. Or of your own, for that matter.

QUALIFICATIONS

Some, including Linden, believe that President Obama is remarkably under-qualified to held the position he was elected to fill. There is no real point in enumerating his shortcomings: Assuming that you are reasonably intelligent and somewhat aware of what desirable qualifications may be, you are already aware of those. This, dear reader, does not mean that he has no potential value to our great country.

If Obama is now a square peg in a round hole, it is because he is in the wrong position. Recent history proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he would be a great Secretary of the Treasury! His ability to identify those who have or may have tax liabilities has not been surpassed in recent history: Perhaps never.

Consider what he could do in the pursuit of Daschle, Geithner, Jefferson, Killifer, Rangel, Richardson and Solis, democrats all, for starters. Perhaps the best use of the catch phrase “culture of corruption” is to apply it here. As Secretary of the Treasury, Obama could really utilize his “hope” and “change” line and not wreck the 200-year history of our country.

IF IT WERE HILLARY

This, as is true of much of the “news”, is an opinion piece: Linden’s opinion.

It has been three months (bad months) since the election of Barack Obama and about three times that long since it was determined who would be the nominee of the democrats. If Hillary Clinton had won both of these contests, one has to wonder what would be the present condition of our country.

Would she have selected Bill Richardson for Commerce? No way! She would have ensured that his “pay for play” approach would have been discovered and she would have selected another. It would have been DUMB to do otherwise.

Would she have selected Timothy Geithner for Treasury? No way! She would have ensured that his tax problem would have been discovered and she would have selected another. It would have been DUMB to do otherwise.

Would she have selected Tom Daschle for Health? No way! She would have ensured that his tax problem would have been discovered and she would have selected another. It would have been DUMB to do otherwise.

Would she have selected Nancy Killifer for “Performance”? No way! She would have ensured that her tax problem would have been discovered and she would have selected another. It would have been DUMB to do otherwise.

In other words, she is too smart to allow the perception that democrats in general are a bunch of tax cheats. Even though one does have to wonder.

Lastly, would she have returned the favor and selected Barack Obama for State? NO WAY! We have already inferred that she is smarter than him. We can only wonder how she would have handled the current financial crisis and even if there would be such a crisis.

RELEASE THEM???

President Obama, the master of personnel selection, appears to not have spent very much time in deep thought when he advocated the closure of Guantanamo in one year.

While listening to the Rush Limbaugh radio show (Mark Steyn was hosting), Linden heard the report of 11 Jihadists who had been released from Guantanamo, then went through a Saudi rehabilitation program (one wonders what graduation was like) and now have just vanished! PERSONS VS CITIZENS

Linden was reminded Monday that he had failed to attend a recent legislative breakfast. At that Breakfast, one of the State Representatives referred to a shortcoming in the Indiana constitution. It seems that when counting the population for the purpose of redistricting, the requirement is to count the number of persons instead of the number of citizens. Apparently this is true of the U.S. constitution, as well.

This one word shortcoming in these two documents has the effect of allowing illegals, usually concentrated in metropolitan areas, to have an undesirable effect on the census and thereby the representation. This needs to be changed! But, for political reasons, it would be difficult to do so.

RESPONSIBILITY

Linden has long believed that the primary difference between the two major political parties centers on responsibility. In his eyes, the large majority of democrats feel no responsibility for the well being of the generations that will follow. Actually, not a great deal of responsibility toward the current generations. Shallow Thinkers!

More than a few Republican officeholders, as they continue to be re-elected, have become more like the democrats. Their own political well being becomes more important than the Conservative principles they once espoused. Weak Sisters!

It is far past time for Conservatives to demand more of those we have previously supported. This wrongly named stimulus bill is a good place to start measuring accountability. Is it time for you to start actively opposing these Weak Sisters?

MEN'S CONFERENCE ++

The conference started Friday night and consumed most of the day on Saturday. It involved probably about one dozen Indianapolis area Christian churches and was at held at Serendipity at the Metropolis mall in Plainfield. About 400 men attended.

The music, and there was lots of it, was good although it was geared, it seemed, to an age group younger than the old man who is writing this. There were three excellent speakers, good interaction with other attendees and, as usual, Rhonda Wagoner and her staff at Serendipity were up to the task.

Brad Long presented a talk on accountability and the desirability of having someone in your life who becomes comfortable presenting means of shaping your life to become a happier and more worthwhile person. Dale Justis presented “Success and Significance” which touched upon his business life and the days that have followed. He will soon be leading a group to India. I missed the “marriage” breakout session presented by Dave and Kim Margolius but he was interesting in the wrap-up session.

For me, the most interesting was the presentations by Eric Alexander www.everestnews.com - his references to helping the blind in mountain climbing expeditions were just almost unbelievable. He presented a bit of a DVD which illustrated a blind friend he was leading up Mt Everest that was really scary. It will be worth your time to check him out on the Internet.

My time was well spent at this conference.
