STILL THANKFUL

It may just be the time of year but Linden has not been brooding overmuch about matters of a political nature for the last couple of days. That will almost certainly change over the weekend.

Wednesday was the day to meet with my second grade “Study Buddy.” Several at school told me that they had been worried until they called to check on me last week. I have no idea how I could have simply forgotten something I enjoy so much.

Thanksgiving day took me to Sam and Shirley Friedman’s on the East side of Indianapolis. Last year I went to Maine, otherwise I have joined them every year since Rubye passed away for their group Thanksgiving buffet at The Garrison at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

The others in the group this year consisted of their daughter and her two college age children, two friends of these children, a couple, originally from Viet Nam, who are normally part of the group, their eight month old twin boys and the grandmother of the twins. It was a very enjoyable group to be with and the food was just excellent. Did little after returning home and returning phone calls.

I appreciated the writing at the following site:

THANKSGIVING

Since the Thanksgiving tradition was begun with the primary purpose being to thank God for blessings received, Linden can do no less these hundreds of years later.

Thanks You God for providing your son to carry my sin load and that of all other believers.

Thank You for providing me with a wonderful son and daughter, their spouses and their children.

Thank You for the other elements of my family and for my friends.

Thank You for allowing me to be born in this country.

Thank You for providing me with a well led Bible believing church to attend.

Thank You for allowing me some interaction with some of those involved in missionary efforts.

Thank You for providing me with two faith expanding trips to Europe.

Thank You for providing me with a great deal of contentment at this stage of my life.

Thank You for those blessings not specifically named.

All Glory, Honor and Praise to Your Holy Name.

SARAH TALKS TURKEY!

Prior to his teenage years, Linden was occasionally called upon to chop off the head of the chicken that was to become the next family meal. This was no big deal for a boy living on a farm. We were meat eaters and animals are almost always killed before they are eaten: It seems the decent thing to do. Vegetables and fruits are not always so fortunate and may be making inaudible “eek!, eek!” sounds as they are being consumed.

Recently a video showed Alaska Governor Sarah Palin pardoning one of the turkeys at a turkey farm near her home. This pardoning is not unusual in the political realm. Her words were fitting for the occasion. In the video background a farm worker started the process of preparing two of the birds for the table.

The video stirred several comments from some newscasters and some of the phony “society leaders” who specialize in attempting to cast the Governor in a bad light. One must wonder how these same people view the reality of babies exiting the birth canal being torn to bits. Again and again and again.

Linden has no idea regarding the plan behind the shooting of the turkey video but he does hope that part of the plan was to cast light on the shallow thinking of “the enlightened ones.”

THE ONE ROOM SCHOOLHOUSE

Linden has often wondered how his life may have progressed had he attended a more advanced elementary school. For five and one half of those eight years he attended a one room school in Orange County, Indiana. It had no inside running water or rest room facilities and in the winter a pot bellied wood burning stove provided the heat. Often he was the only one in his class. He walked the two miles from the family farm, which is now under the waters of the Patoka reservoir.

Having just completed a 33 question online test and becoming aware of the truly miserable performance of the initial test takers, Linden is now wondering where in the world these people were “educated”. Of this group of 2,508, over 71% flunked the test. Linden got an “A”.

To take the test, click on “take the quiz” at www.americancivicliteracy.org

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Monday was devoted to household type tasks and various types of correspondence. Enoch and Hayford left the Mission House for Cincinnati and will leave for their home in Ghana Tuesday. They are pretty impressive.
A forwarded cartoon received brought a chuckle: It appeared in The Saginaw News Opinion and I was unable to make out the name of the cartoonist. In it, a man and a woman were at a table, drinking coffee and looking at the paper. The man: “sez here they arrested a D.C. madam for running a house of ill repute… The woman: “they arrested Pelosi?!”

NOT STUPID, IGNORANT

Why does Linden believe the subjects appearing in a video are not stupid? Because they, without exception, displayed evidences of some ability to think: In no manner did they appear to be dense.

The ignorance was evident by their answers to questions concerning various aspects of the recently concluded presidential election. They had simply been sold a belief system by the main stream media: Culprits mentioned were PBS, MSNBC, The New York Times and probably others of that ilk.

Perhaps this could have a positive effect. If the more than one million viewers of this video and those associated with it will start boycotting the advertisers and supporters of this type of MSM bias, then it is possible that honest reporting will follow.

This ignorance will, Linden believes, result in a presidency even more inept and dangerous to our foundation than that of Jimmy Carter.

To see the evidence, go to www.howobamagotelected.com and click on the You Tube video.

MORE LINDEN'S LIFE

Monday 11-17: After going to the grocery and post office, I spent most of the day doing minor household tasks, reading and writing a bit. Read a great blog entry that I will mention again at the end of my talking about me.

Tuesday: Fasting is not something I do well at all but that was the order of the day before reporting to The VA hospital shortly after noon. Following the blood draw, I had coffee and two cream cheese filled bagels. The rest of the appointment was good enough but it was unproductive after I returned home.

Wednesday: Shortly after 9:00, I received a call reminding me of my doctor appointment tomorrow. I thought, “I do not need to be reminded – I’m not likely to forget.” About 30 minutes later, I received a call from Karen at Brentwood Elementary School. She was just checking on my welfare and said that if I hadn’t answered the phone she and Diana White were going to come check on me. Very nice of them! It seems that I had completely forgotten my Study Buddy session with my second grade student. I felt like a fool.
I took our church intern to lunch. It was very good as was our conversations. He had read and liked the play that will appear in my forthcoming book. I had dinner at Church and stayed for part of the program but got to feeling bad and came home early.

Thursday: Had the usual pleasant breakfast meeting with Bill, Chuck, Jack and Paul. After reading the paper, etc, went to the appointment with the dermatologist. He said the three items he had removed from my back last week were not malignant. Pretty good news. Mostly did paperwork after returning home and exchanged several emails with Brian and Julie.

Now, about the two blogs that I enjoy enough that I check for a posting practically every day.

http://sherbitter.livejournal.com/ Takes you to my friend, Sharon.

http://www.wifeinthenorth.com/ “Remembrance Days” posted November 13, will almost for sure bring tears to your eyes.

Brian shared a writing with me that I liked very much, as I did a rebuttal which appeared at the end of the posting. Inquire on “ a modern parable” then click on “The Cenek Report.

MIXED EMOTIONS

Linden has made no secret of the fact that he believes the election of Barack Obama will be an absolute disaster for this country. It will be quite a blessing if Linden is wrong.

He has also made no effort to hide the fact that he does not approve of dishonest or shoddy behavior: Particularly by those who purport to serve our country.

In keeping with his opinion in regard to the likely actions of the Obama presidency, he believes that providing him with a veto proof congress is a recipe for guaranteeing the aforementioned disaster.

Linden was hoping that Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska would be re-elected and then kicked out of office by his fellow Republicans. Now, it appears that he has lost his re-election bid by about 2,500 votes. A recount is possible but no change is expected.

So, although it is not desirable to have a convicted felon “serving”, it may be preferable to the alternative.

GLOBAL COOLING, AGAIN

It may be because of Linden being outside enough today that his hands are still cold after hours inside or it may be because of his continuing irritation over his “Global Cooling” posting of December 17, 2007 not resulting in Nobel Prize consideration, that Linden is revisiting this subject. Or it could be because of the small amount of news coverage that another error by NASA’S Goddard Institute for Space Studies produced. It seems that all of their errors serve to reinforce their belief that global warming is real. STRANGE. Maybe they are not really scientists.

It seems that their most recent and fairly major error was to use temperature data from September as October data. This resulted in (until challenged) October being considered as perhaps the warmest October on record. Practically everyone knows that September is usually considerably warmer than October.

You, gentle reader, are probably well aware that a tremendous number of dollars is associated with the various funding, legal restrictions and manufacturing requirements that accompany the quite possibly erroneous belief that man is causing global warming. The last thing those who are positively affected by the cause of global warming want to hear is that global cooling is coming. IT IS.

Perhaps it would be good if you made a search on “NASA global warming error.” You may be exposed to some viewpoints that will be interesting, even upsetting, to you.

How necessary to the well being of our nation is NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies?

PERSONAL BAILOUT REQUEST

Dear Nancy, Harry and George:

Linden has been reading and hearing much about various bad management efforts, thoughts and dreams. He has not been overly enthused regarding anything he has heard or read and, forgive him please, he has not had a great deal of faith in the approaches most often attributed to political “leaders.”

Then, an epochal thought surfaced: Why would it not be desirable to distribute a goodly portion of these vast sums of money directly to those of more modest means than to those who have been most often mentioned?

There could be a simple two part test devised that would test the applicant’s knowledge of who is most responsible for this meltdown – Carter, B. Clinton, Frank, Dodd, Waters, H. Clinton and Obama come to mind. Extra points would be awarded for reference to Raines and Gorelik. The second part would consist of proving personal loss.

In Linden’s case, the actions of those mentioned has resulted in the loss of about 35% of the monies he had thought would cushion his declining years. Since, by listing the names above, Linden has passed part one of the test and proving part two is easily accomplished, the next move is yours.

PLEASE SEND THE CHECK

LINDEN'S LIFE UPDATE

Now that the election is over, Linden will probably adjust his posting focus, as follows: Monday and Friday, Linden’s Activities, if any. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, other items – probably mostly political in nature.
-----
WRITING UPDATE:
The printer says that my 7th book should be produced in early December. Also, I have 3 other books planned and started the preliminary work on each of them this week.
-----
NOW, LINDEN'S LIFE:
Thursday 11-13: Had our usual enjoyable breakfast meeting with all five of us present. The Church staff prepared and served their annual Thanksgiving luncheon for the “Golden Glows.” They served a cran-raspberry jello salad, roasted turkey, sweet potato casserole, dressing with turkey gravy, rolls, apple butter, pecan or pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and tea or coffee. Wonderful meal. This was followed by a program by the Avon High School Choral Singers. It was great, too.
As I went home, I waved to the occupant of a car that was just coming out of the lane leading to the Mission House and my cottage. I thought I knew who was in the car and it turned around and followed me to my parking spot. I got out to see what this person wanted and it was my daughter, Julie. She was in Indiana on business and was enroute from a place maybe 50 miles North of Plainfield to another town about 50 miles South. She had stopped in Brownsburg and bought me a huge slab of the best peanut brittle I’ve ever had! Very short stay but I was surely happy to see her and love the candy.

Friday: Had good biscuits and gravy at our Men’s Prayer Breakfast. Since I had experienced another restless night, I was a deadhead all day long. Julie and Jade picked me up in the evening and we went to dinner at a nice restaurant. Jade had just gotten her six month shots and was slightly fussy for her – usually she neither cries or complains. She is now 17 pounds and 27 inches long. It was great to spend some time with the two of them.

Saturday: Had a breakfast meeting at Kingsway church: Great food! Also had a writers group meeting at 10:00. Back home, read the paper, listened to and watched a little football and did nothing else worth mentioning.

Sunday: Church, Sunday School, brunch with friends, paper reading and watched the Colts win a football game. Talked to Brian for a bit and went to evening services at Church.

JOB LOSSES

For several months it has seemed that the daily news would bring us another report of job losses, either current or impending. One can only imagine the human misery associated with each one of these reports!

These job situations have affected not only those in the United States, but have spread around the globe as a result of marketing faulty investment vehicles. These “opportunities” originated primarily within the United States.

An organization’s need for individual employees should wax and wane depending upon the skill displayed by management in ascertaining the need for the product they provide. Unfortunately, actions by a controlling government can damage beyond repair the actions of the most skillful management team and this government action is what precipitated the current global financial crisis.

Those lawmakers, excluding Presidents Carter and Clinton, most often associated with the current crisis are: Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, followed by Hillary Clinton, Kent Conrad, John Kerry, Barack Obama and other liberal democrats.

Linden believes that those named will be “serving” for at least two more years. Do you then intend to support their re-election? You may wish to refer to the posting of September 24.

LINDEN'S LIFE

It has been a week since the election and Linden’s life is not yet appreciably better!
-----
Thursday 11-6: We had our usual breakfast meeting; we laughed a lot in spite of the election results. Another trip to the dermatologist: Got another prescription and they cut out three suspicious areas on my back. I proofed the book preparation files the printer sent: Looks pretty good to me.

Friday: Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 6:00. Hayford came by from the Mission House to return some stuff. In the evening, I took the bandages off of the wounds on the back – one place was really hard to reach – had to find a back scratcher and hook a corner of it and then had trouble putting the salve on it.

Saturday: Slept poorly (again) and was up early: Was sleepy all day. Napped some. Called my old brother-in-law in Illinois for a long visit and Thuc called me later. His Navy son is getting promoted and Thuc is going to California for the occasion; Jennifer is now in her third year of medical training – wants to specialize in ear, nose and throat. His younger son, Long, is now in his third year of college and just participated in a Navy Seal type contest: finished number one out of about one thousand.

Sunday: Church, Sunday School, Hayford spoke about Ghana in this class, brunch, paper reading, a bit of TV watching and we had our annual congregational at evening church.

Monday: Had some computer related difficulty in posting my blog. Had a nice lunch with a friend and Brian called later in the day for a nice visit.

Tuesday: Had a GOP Roundtable meeting at 7:00 then joined some other guys for coffee. I slept poorly again last night so; every time I sat down I napped off.

Wednesday: Had my “Study Buddy” session at 9:00 then went to the credit union to pay a bill. While driving, I heard a bit of the Laura Ingraham radio show and was not favorably impressed with her guest. I think he was some liberal black guy with a name something like “Trey.” Sounded dumb. He referred to Sarah Palin saying something like “I’m a feminist, whatever that is.” He thought that showed a lack of rational thought. Since there must be fifty different versions of what constitutes a feminist, she was absolutely correct.
Dinner and program at Church, then went by the Mission House: Enoch is back from his travels and had called me to say that the TV picture was blurry. I told John Dingman at dinner and he had already been to check on it when I got to the House. So, I did nothing.

OVEREAGER REPORTER?

It appears that in this instance “overeager reporter” and “sloppy reporting” are interchangeable titles. Perhaps “biased” belongs in there somewhere.

Linden’s posting yesterday was concerned with who in the McCain campaign staff may have been responsible for the obviously ridiculous accusation regarding the knowledge deficit of Sarah Palin. The question resulted from a widely disseminated report.

Some hours after completing the posting, Linden unearthed a couple of small mentions that the reporter had been tricked into reporting something as “news” when it was actually nothing more than a planted attack on Sarah Palin.

Naturally, the notice that the original story was erroneous will not be as widely circulated as the falsehood was.

This is another in a long line of examples of why the MSM is, because of its bias, losing readership, advertising revenue and is cutting staff.

CAMPAIGN STAFF?

From the news standpoint, what we were fed from some time before the election until perhaps even now, was that Governor Sarah Palin (the candidate with the most executive experience) left much to be desired as a candidate for VP. Most of the accusations were absolutely ridiculous.

It has been reported that many of the poison darts aimed at Palin originated from within the McCain campaign staff. Linden does not know: But, he does know that sometimes pointing your finger at another is a means of direction attention away from oneself.

Steve Schmidt, Nicolle Wallace, Tracey Schmitt, Rick Davis, Mark Salter and Mark Wallace appear to be the names of some of those who should put this matter to rest. Certainly old bi-partisan John McCain should be in the forefront of this effort.

Linden estimates that at least 50 million recent voters would agree that Sarah Palin was one of the few bright spots in this campaign.

IGNORANT, STUPID OR TELLING LIES

The deterioration of the Main Stream Media in regard to credability is the primary reason why this particular posting title was chosen. Surely you understand this.

The day before the presidential election, Linden predicted that the stock market would fall 500 points if Obama were elected. Linden missed it by 14 points – it closed down 486. Later, he predicted that this loss would encompass more than one day: The next day it lost over 400 points. This two-day total is not insignificant nor does it impact the lives of only a few people.

The reason for this prediction was simple: The Obama stated plans for raising or allowing to increase a number of taxes, particularly on the business community had to cause fear that it would become increasingly difficult to operate a business in the face of onerous taxation.

The prevalent reasons given by the MSM for this stock market downturn was simplistic, at best and never touched upon the negative effect of Obama’s words. This posting title is apt.

If you do not already know the primary cause of this longer period market deterioration, may Linden call attention to the failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the effect that failure had on the world.

May he also call attention to the individuals who said time and again that there was no cause for concern? Linden does not need to name these persons again: If you do not know, it is because you do not want to know. Fear for our country is warranted.

ZERO FOR FORTY

Linden is well aware that there are at least three different answers GOD may make to prayer: Yes, No and Maybe Later. On November 3, 2008, in addition to voicing support for John McCain and Sarah Palin, Linden mentioned 41 Congressional contests: All in the House of Representatives. He may have also mentioned the Kerry Senatorial race.

It is saddening to report that 40 of those races ended with the answer being “No.” The 41st race involved William J. Jefferson in Louisiana’s District 2. He has been indicted on bribery and racketeering charges. He, a democrat, won the right to the party nominee in the December 6 General Election.

Among those winning democrats were Robert Wexler in Florida District 19: He only recently decided to actually live in the District he represents; Alcee Hastings in Florida District 23: Was he not convicted some years ago of some sort of unseemly activity? Barney Frank of Massachusetts 4, bears a great deal of responsibility for the current financial crisis and the loss of many, many dollars by investors. And, of course, we must mention Nancy Pelosi who is the party leader of an impressive list of underachievers.

We live in perilous times!

LINDEN'S BUSY LIFE

The day before Election Day, Linden predicted that the stock market would fall 500 points if Obama were elected: He missed by 14 points. You do not want to know what he thinks is in store for your investments from this point.

Thursday 10-30: Took Enoch and Hayford to our Thursday breakfast meeting. They enjoyed it, as we did having them present. Only Jack was not present. This was the second time that those from a foreign country joined us. The rest of the day I read, used the computer, listened to music and handled phone calls.

Friday: Good Men’s Prayer Breakfast – Hayford spoke and Gary Weedman, President of Johnson Bible College, was present. Spent a little time later with Enoch and Hayford – showed them the “Stations of the Cross” pictures from Helingenkreutz, Austria. Pretty impressive to them as they have been to me. Got a haircut. Had no Halloweeners. Several good emails and conversations.

Saturday: Went with the Kingsway church men’s group to Chapel Rock Christian Church for a men’s prayer breakfast. Very good presentation by Fred Rodkey. Watched and listened to some football.

Sunday: Forgot to set my clock back an hour so my whole day was messed up! Went to Church and Sunday school but didn’t go to brunch. Brian left me a message that he was eating smoked oysters on crackers: We used to eat that occasionally years ago and had both forgotten how good they are. I’ll be trying some soon. Julie sent some cute Halloween pictures of Jade.

Monday: Went by the bookstore that sells my efforts. Had an email from the book printer that is trying to decipher the next book info I sent.

Tuesday: Coffee with the Tuesday coffee guys. I started the preliminary work on another book. Looked all over for a chili recipe that a friend gave me probably 25 years ago – I fixed it several times but couldn’t find the recipe. I did find a note from her: I really liked her but she was married so nothing ever developed.

Wednesday: The results of the Presidential election are one of the major disappointments I’ve had in my long life. I’m beginning to understand why they call our educational system a failure.
Had a Study Buddy session; picked up some political signs I had distributed – some had been stolen. Over the years I have been aware of the theft of many Republican signs but can not recall hearing of the theft of a democrat sign. This has helped cement in my mind that, generally speaking, democrats are a lower class. Hayford came over from the Mission House: I fixed us some hot chocolate with marshmallows: He loves marshmallows. Evening dinner and program at Church.

PLEASE GOD, SAVE OUR NATION

Linden is not accomplished enough to put into words the deep sorrow he has regarding the Presidential election results. Therefore, this short posting will be divided into two parts: What Linden thinks and what he knows, as a result of hearing the associated words or reading the quotes.

Linden Thinks:
If Obama spent 15 minutes in the voting booth, he is either poorly coordinated or not a great decision maker.
If true, reports of voter intimidation will never be investigated.
If the black vote went by over 90 percent for Obama, there should never be another report of white racist tendencies.
You may wish to identify the placing of Obama yard signs so that you can question the results of this support.

Linden Knows:
Voters favor taxes on all home sale profit; triple the existing tax on dividends; an upcoming dramatic increase in income taxes; restoration of the inheritance tax.
Also, new taxes based on home size, utility usage and retirement accounts. Don’t forget the taxes to pay for the poor care provided by socialized medicine.
Plans to ruin the coal usage industry will bring misery to many.
Abortion proliferation will be an ungodly fact of life.

Other than the above items, Linden has mostly good feelings about yesterday’s election.

PLEASE GOD, SAVE OUR NATION.

PREDICTION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Linden’s stock market prediction for Wednesday is that if Obama is elected the market will fall not less than 500 points. If McCain is elected, the market will gain over 500 points.
-----
When Linden started this educational effort just over one year ago, he reported that there had been no 2006 Republican opposition to a democrat in 39 of the 435 Congressional Districts. These 39 were scattered over 15 States.

Within those 39 Districts, Linden is now pleased to recommend 27 candidates: 22 Republican; 2 Libertarian; 1 Independent; 1 Conservative and 1 Write-In. Please be aware that Waste Watch, the publication of Citizens Against Government Waste rated these opposed democrats at an average of almost 3. They consider anything less than 20 to be hostile to taxpayers. Almost anybody could represent the taxpayer better than they have been. Recommended are:

AL 5 Wayne Parker
CA 20 James Lopez
CA 33 David Crowley
FL 2 Mark Mulligan
FL 19 Edward Lynch
FL 20 Margaret Hostetter
Fl 23 Marion Thorpe Jr.
GA 5 Shira Kash
IL 12 Timmy Jay Richardson
MD 5 Collins Bailey
MD 7 Mike Hargadon
MA 1 Nate Bech
MA 4 Earl Sholley
MA 7 John Cunningham
MI 13 Edward Gubics
MI 15 John Lynch
NJ 1 Dale Glading
NY 5 Liz Berney
NY 9 Alfred Donohue
NY 22 George Phillips
NC 1 Dean Stephens
PA 1 Mike Muhammad
RI 2 Mark Zaccaria
TX 9 Brad Walters
Tx 16 Mette Baker
TX 20 Robert Litoff
TX 28 Jim Fish

You may wish to call this posting to the attention of your acquaintances in the States mentioned.

Although some Senate races (notably Kerry in MA) come to mind and several Indiana races are important to Linden, probably the above 41 House races are enough for Linden to ask God to address. After all, Linden is just one person: Feel free to add your voice.

FOLLOWING JESUS?

Linden was called to compose this posting after reading three Presidential endorsement articles which appeared in The Indianapolis Star.

Rev. T. Garrot Benjamin of Indianapolis and Rev. Steven L. Newman of Danville each endorsed Barack Obama. In each instance, Linden considered their reasoning to be quite weak.

Rev. J. Wesley Hertel of Greenwood, after questioning the judgment of Obama in regard to him following a racist pastor; the values of Obama in regard to his stance on abortion; and the vision of Obama because of his socialist leanings, endorsed John McCain.

Linden has a vision of Benjamin, Newman and Obama giving the thumbs up signal as a physician violates his Hippocratic oath by plunging scissors into the skull of a child emerging from the birth canal. FOLLOWING JESUS? LINDEN THINKS NOT.

Subject: Dear Fellow Business Owners
As a business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama, may be our next President, and that my taxes and fees, will go up in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the customer will have to see an increase in my fees to them of about 8%. I will also have to lay off 8 of my employees. This really bothered me as I treat my employees like family here and I will have a hard time choosing who will have to go. So this is what I did. I strolled through the parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on my employee’s cars. I have decided the folks that own these cars willbe the FIRST to be laid off. I can't think of a better way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know.

“Waste Watch” surmises that the reason Congress has not moved as it should with spending bills is that they hope they can attach more spending after the election.
Waste Watch also considers a spending rating of less than 40% to be unfriendly to hostile to taxpayers: democrats averaged 5%. It named the following Senators, all democrats, to be the lowest rated: Daniel Akaka, Joe Biden, Robert Byrd, Hillary Clinton, Kent Conrad, Chris Dodd, Byron Dorgan, Daniel Inouye, Amy Klobuchar, Carl Levin, Harry Reid, Debbie Stabenow and Ron Wyden. Each were rated at ZERO!
IT IS YOUR MONEY THEY SPEND.
