COMMENTARY: DECEMBER CHRISTIAN STUDIES

On Sundays, Steve White delivered messages from Luke and Matthew while John Lee focused on Mark for our Sunday School lessons. The first Wednesday evening at church I only had dinner and on the second I had dinner and attended a study. There was no such activity on the other Wednesdays. The Thursday breakfasts with the guys found us taking turns with the devotion part of these always enjoyable meetings. The first three Fridays we had our early morning Men's Prayer Breakfasts...the third Friday was a pitch-in meal, I took cream puffs. Saturdays brought the usual breakfasts meetings at Kingsway and Chapel rock and the CDCMF dinner meeting, this time at Cornerstone.

Wednesday started with me having biscuits and gravy at Chick-fil-A again. From there I went to a store and on to the post office to pick up my mail. At home, I sent a note to Brian then watched I.U. win a basketball game: they did not look impressive at all. During the game, at about 2:30, I received another call from Cardholder Services. UGH! Later, I did some paperwork and got a call from Julie.

Thursday I had breakfast with the guys, Jack and Lloyd absent. Later, I went to a bank, the credit union and the post office and then Marsha came by for a short visit and to bring me some sweets. Julie and Jade came in the afternoon, we went out for Julie's favorite Mexican meal then went to church for the candlelight communion. A really good day.

Friday, Christmas day started with opening the packages Brian and Sheri sent. I liked their choices and sent them a note. Julie and Jade came in the evening and stayed until after midnight, as usual she just showered me with gifts. I had a great Christmas.

Saturday Sam came out with gifts from Shirley. We had breakfast at the Diner then drove by the new Legion Post to see if we could catch anyone there: couldn't. Their daughter will be arriving from Hawaii later today. Brian called for a short visit and Julie called to say she made it back to Chicago okay. Watched I.U. lose a very watchable football game.

Sunday brought church and Sunday School attendance plus a call from Brian and a note from Julie. Watched the Colts win a football game.

On Tuesday, as I took out the trash I , for the first time, met Meagan Masterman. She is married to Josh who is staying in the Mission House while she continues to teach in Illinois. He is a recent addition to the PCC staff. Al Rumley's funeral was in the afternoon” he was a good friend. Steve White provided an excellent message. In the evening I watched I.U. win a basketball game.

Friday started with with the Men's Prayer breakfast and a study. The breakfast was a great pitch-in (I took cream puffs) and, as usual Steve presented a good study. In the late afternoon I went to a funeral home in Mooresville. Received another phone call from Cardholder Services.

On Saturday I met with the men's group for breakfast at Kingsway and later attended the Legion's Blue Star event in Danville. It was really well done. Watched Indiana and Butler win basketball games.

Sunday brought church and Sunday School attendance then watched the Colts lose a football game.

COMMENTARY: TUESDAY'S REPUBLICAN DEBATE

I checked the opinion of several writers and commentators and it seemed that only Rush Limbaugh came close to agreeing with me. I did not hear all he had to say. I rated Cruz #1 followed by Fiorina, Trump, Carson and Rubio. The also ran category consisted of Bush, Christie, Kasich and Paul. In a side note I consider Rubio to be untrustworthy in the area of immigration.

On Wednesday my car was repaired by noon so I celebrated by going out for lunch then on to a store and the post office. One of the great post office workers we have in Plainfield had put “YUMMY TREATS” on the card notifying me that I had a package too large for my box. She was correct: Cheryl had caused the bakery in Racine to send me a Kringle. I love Kringles.

Friday started with Men's Prayer Breakfast at 6:00. Later, I picked up mail and talked to Brian and Julie. Lloyd took me to Danville to see Paul before his operation. Kent found a water leak at Pier 14. I watched some boxing in the evening.

Saturday I went to two stores, the post office, and to a writers group affair hosted by Steve and Joyce: nice affair. Watched Butler and Indiana win basketball games.

Sunday started with church and Sunday School attendance. Watched the Colts lose a football game and performed some minor tasks.

As is usually the case, Thursday started with me having breakfast with the guys. Paul didn't make it and he will have surger on Friday. After breakfast, I filled my gas tank, picked up my mail, went by the church and wasted a trip to Indianapolis. Brian called and left a message while I was gone. Must be feeling better since his surgery. I listened to RTE as I was reading the mail and the paper: they reported quite a bit of flooding around the river Shannon. Dan and Diana came by in the afternoon bringing me a piece of very good cake. I'm a lucky guy.

COMMENTARY: TELL US THE FULL STORY

The article linked below is the reason for this particular posting. It illustrates why the taxpaying public would be better served if Congress would do two things: 1. Reduce the budget of the offending bureaucracy by the dollar amount considered to be wasteful and 2. Require major spending initiatives to be individually approved by Congress. Linden believes that in fairly recent history the budget was reported as being at 3.7 trillion dollars and this article mentions 4.3 trillion dollars...is Linden's memory bad or are those entrusted to prepare the budget not doing their job??? Disgust is warranted.

On Wednesday I drove to Greenwood and met Mary, a high school classmate for breakfast. She approved the Ireland pictures that Brian had snapped and I, later in the day, approved the cookies and fudge she sent home with me. In the evening I had dinner and attended a study at church.

Perhaps it was good luck that Linden could not find a single political issue that he felt moved to bring to your attention in this posting. In a sense this is political in nature because it seems that the vast majority of college administrators and professors are slanted leftward to the point that providing an education is sometimes not held to be as important as political indoctrination. COMMENTARY: ANYONE BUT CRUZ?

You may remember that some months ago when the campaign for the Republican Presidential nomination was just beginning, Linden stated that it would be hard to find anyone who is worse for America than our current White House occupant and that his favorites at that time were Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina and Scott Walker. Walker has since dropped out but the other two are still in the running and are making some who have noticed a little bit nervous. The article linked below comments on the situation.

Friday started with Men's Prayer Breakfast at 6:00 and the rest of the day was just normal activities. The call from Cardholder Services is becoming a normal activity.

On Saturday Lloyd picked me up and we went to the Men's breakfast at Chapel Rock. It was really foggy for hours. Later, I went by the affair at Gathering Together and also watched Butler and I.U. win their basketball games.

Sunday started with church and Sunday School attendance followed by brunch with friends. In the afternoon I drove to Indianapolis for a visit with two cousins.
