I CHRONICLES
The first nine chapters trace the genealogy of the Israelites from Adam until the return from captivity as recorded in the first twelve books of the Bible. Chapter ten recounts the death of King Saul and his three sons. After that, the book is primarily about David.

David is made King, wins great battles against the Philistines and others, rebuilds Jerusalem, and brings the Ark there. He wanted to build a temple to The LORD but was told by The LORD that David’s son, Solomon, would be the builder. So, David contented himself with the planning and material accumulation necessary for Solomon to proceed with the task.

David, an old and godly man, dies and Solomon is made King.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
In Linden’s opinion, his letter appearing below needed to be written. This posting will appear before he is aware of whether or not the letter will be published.

What he did not yet address is his increasing belief that complaints regarding shoddy reporting should be referred to major advertisers with accompanying threats of boycott. Probably soon. Letter follows:

DEAR EDITOR,

I believe Leonard Pitts earlier, followed by Eugene Robinson on Saturday, "Our Opinion" on Sunday, and Sheila Kennedy on Monday, each provided a good example of second rate journalism. Each failed to use the word "alleged" when referring to reported incidents of racist actions prior to passage of the "healthcare" bill.

If we are to believe widely available reports (which I do) that there is absolutely no evidence of these reported incidents happening and that a prize of $10,000.00 is offered for proof of some of these incidents having roots in fact, surely the word "alleged" belongs in those writings mentioned in paragraph one.

Could it be that Carson, Lewis, Pitts, and Robinson are some of those who could be correctly tarred with the racist label?

Sincerely,
--

JUDGING SELF
One of the problems, if a problem it be, of attempting to put together a five-day-a-week series of postings is the necessity of viewing a multitude of better writers in order to help in solidifying one’s own thoughts.

Today, since Linden did not want to write about the probable lying of the democrats as they and their willing media accomplices rant about the racial tone of Tea Party protests, or about the likelihood of suits against the “healthcare” bill, or even about the ability of our white president to read from a teleprompter, Linden brings you links to two writers who fall into the better writers category.

The first, written by Sharon, contains another excellent writing: scroll down to March 25 and read “Another Quarter Heard From”.
http://sherbitter.livejournal.com/

The next, written by Kyle-Anne Shiver, is another of her excellent writings:

The Men’s Prayer Breakfast was the high point of Friday activities. Undoubtedly watching Butler win their game on Saturday and thereby become one of the four teams to play in the NCAA finals was the most memorable thing about Saturday. Sunday brought church services, Sunday school, brunch with friends, and more basketball watching.

OTHERS NOT TRUSTING DEMOCRATS
With the democrats in the Senate refusing to cut off funding of Viagra for sexual predators, those that have been or will be abused by this class of perverts have every right to consider why that party had no consideration for the trauma the have been or will be subjected to.

While speaking of representation we are not particularly happy with, Linden can not help but wonder how many taxpayers paying the same amount as he are not happy at all with Obama’s needless trip to Iowa.

Met Bill and Chuck at the restaurant for our usual Thursday morning session. Then, went to the post office and, since it was developing into a cold and rainy day, goofed off around the house the rest of the day. Julie brought Jade and some food from Gray’s by for me in the evening. I had just started watching the Butler basketball game but was soon watching “The Princess And The Frog”. It was set in New Orleans which was the scene of Julie’s wedding almost four years ago…the band that played at her reception had a song in the video. I am so fortunate to see Julie and usually Jade as well as often as I do.

CRAFTSMANSHIP
Linden suspected that the 2,300 (or whatever) page healthcare bill would almost certainly contain some errors. Apparently he was correct in his suspicion. It is probably fair to expect many words to be written on this subject in the days to come.

Linden’s favorite, to this point is that Obamacare, in spite of the words of Obama himself, neglected to cover the preexisting conditions of the young. How could a truly competent person or group of lackeys make such an error? Pity America for its truly incompetent and corrupt leadership.

Please explain for me what this quote snippet from John Dingell means “…it takes a long time to do the necessary steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to CONTROL THE PEOPLE.”

GOD help us.

II KINGS
The prophet Elijah is carried away to heaven and the prophet Elisha succeeds him. Elisha also performed many miracles.

As usual, there is much fighting and killing. King Jehu of Israel managed to exterminate the Baal worshippers even though he was not a truly godly man

King after king, after king, ruled in both Israel (the Northern kingdom) and Judah (the Southern kingdom), all sorts or fighting, killing and intrigue were the norm. The kings were, generally speaking, not men of God.

The book ends sometime around 600 years before the birth of Jesus Christ with Judah under the control of Babylon and Israel under the control of Assyria.

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

An article in Politico, which Linden didn’t choose to link to, referred to a couple of incidents in a possibly disparaging manner. It appears that during the “healthcare” debate a Texas Representative called out the words “baby killer”. The democrat Whip referred to this as “disgracing Congress during a formal session”. The actions of the party presently controlling Congress can not be topped when it comes to disgracing that institution!

Also mentioned in this same article was “you lie!” being called out during the State of the Union presentation. I have heard that mentioned before as being in bad taste but never have I heard of an investigation into the truthfulness of the charge.

It took Michelle Obama almost fifty years to become proud of America for the first time. It has taken Linden just over eighty years to begin seriously questioning his pride in this same country.

We all knew that it is possible (and highly desirable) to draft a healthcare bill that contains less than 2,300 pages. Ann Coulter in the article linked immediately below presents a one page sample which addresses almost everything desirable except for tort reform. Surely tort reform could be covered in less than 2,299 pages. Her approach would involve no taxpayer cost.
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=36080

We all (excluding nut cases) hoped that a move would be made to question the constitutionality of the healthcare bills now under consideration. Apparently our hope will be realized. See link below. H/T Chuck

A DAY LATE
In spite of Nancy Pelosi, The Corpseman, and others of that ilk being willing to lie, bribe, and misrepresent in order to move the healthcare monstrosity forward, there seems to be no real news to present on that front. Therefore, we will focus this posting on Irish music…had not yesterday been committed to Bible review, Linden would have brought this to you then.

Although Linden wasn’t there at the time, he believes that his direct Swift ancestors sailed to the New World from Ireland almost 300 years ago and the Trotter clan came even earlier. Surely some of Linden’s love for sad music traces back to that time; no others can sound like the Irish.

A You Tube version of Rathlin Island by Cathie Ryan could not be found so the first verse words precede the music links:

Nothing worthy of major mention on Tuesday. Wednesday brought a successful session with my Study Buddy in the morning with dinner and a program at church in the evening. When I returned home, Brian had left me a message so I emailed him and then, Lisa, Rubye’s daughter, called me from Maine: she has been looking into possible trips for me to take to Ireland. Also, she said that she captured an injured hawk that had long sharp talons. She works at an animal shelter so the hawk is now in good hands.

1 KINGS
King David had grown very old and weak and his son, Adonijah, expected to replace him. Bathsheba and the prophet, Nathan, appeared before David requesting that Solomon be named king. David granted their request and Solomon became king of Israel and Judah. Then Adonijah feared for his life but was spared for a time. Later, he attempted to win the kingdom by trickery and was put to death.

Solomon asked The LORD for wisdom and The LORD said that he would give him wisdom, riches, and honor and it was so. Solomon wrote 3,000 proverbs and 1,005 songs.

Then, working with king Hiram, Solomon built a great temple to The LORD and followed that by building his own palace. The Ark of the Covenant, containing the two stone tablets placed there by Moses, was transferred to the temple.

Solomon had a great number of wives and concubines who, contrary to the wishes of The LORD, worshipped other gods. The LORD was angry with Soloman and said that the kingdom will be taken away from his son.

Solomon died and his son, Rehoboam, became king, and lost most of his kingdom to Jeroboam, who became an idolater also. Egypt conquered Jerusalem and there was constant war between Israel and Judah.

Following much war and killing and many evil kings, the great prophet, Elijah, came on the scene calling for three years of no rain. Elijah performed several miracles and the bad rule over the land continued.

DESPONDENCY
It may be because the outside weather is dingy, gloomy, cold, and almost rainy that Linden is not in his usual sunny mood. Of course, I suppose it could be just a reflection of the damage done by brain-dead voters in the last election. No good news emanates from those in power in Washington, D.C.

Links presented today reflect some of this dour mood. Saying “no” to Obamacare, although a very good thought, can not address the willingness of Pelosi et al to ignore the Constitution in making every effort, legal or not, to pass this monstrosity.

Looking at the viability of Social Security brings terrifying thoughts to those of Linden’s age and we should add that media coverage of the Tea Party movement could use some journalistic professionalism. Luckily, the music link presents a lilting melody.

LINDEN'S LIFE
I’ve not yet adjusted to the time change…from my standpoint, part of “good old days” remembrance is leaving clocks alone! Today the day was split between wasting time (no wonder my next book is progressing so slowly) and running a few errands.
In the evening I went with six other guys to Franklin Memorial Christian Church for dinner and a program. Arrived back home just in time to watch 24, my favorite TV program.

Since Wednesday is the day reserved for Bible study and it is also St. Patrick’s Day this year, I will probably present links to some Irish music on Thursday.

HEALTHCARE BILL ANALYSIS

HEALTHCARE BILL ANALYSIS
Sharon was kind enough to send Linden a link (shown below) to a healthcare related article written by democrat pollsters. It contains good advice, which probably will not be followed, for those who support passage of this monstrosity.

“Self deception” accurately describes those supporters who choose to believe that the public wants this bill passed. “Blind persistence” also describes those who keep pushing for passage, and “Political reality” touches upon the fact that those pushing for passage have lost the public relations battle and will, God willing, feel the brunt of voter anger next November. This is a good reading.

Next is a link to an enjoyable letter to AARP which has a highly readable sidebar article by Star Parker. The third link is to a very talented young yodeler.

With the tragic healthcare bill not yet to the point where Nancy Pelosi can force it upon a shuddering American public and the only slightly less bad idea of granting illegal immigrants amnesty not yet ready for action by the Congressional criminals, Linden has little he feels is worth your time to read.

Therefore, he presents three good links: Linden had not heard of the bonded term limits idea until yesterday but it is something he has thought may be a solution to the term limits problem. The Great Orators piece is just the words of some well known people and the Awaiting the Statue presentation is a bird lovers delight. The music link is to a favorite of Linden’s. Sad!

WRITING EXERCISES +++
As one who dabbles with writing from time to time, Linden strongly believes that practice and engaging in writing exercises can be nothing other than beneficial to one who shares his interest. Therefore, today he brings you letter writing examples:

“Dear Resident:

About one week from now, you will receive a 2010 Census form in the mail. When you receive your form, please fill it out and mail it in promptly.

Your response is important. Results from the 2010 Census will be used to help each community get its fair share of government funds for highways, schools, health facilities, and many other programs you and your neighbors need. Without a complete, accurate census, your community may not receive its fair share.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Robert M. Groves
Director, U.S. Census Bureau”

Dear Bob,

If it is true that the postal service is suffering budgetary constraints due to the decrease in the number of mail pieces handled, I can well understand that those in that service are excited about your letter which states that you will be sending another letter. My guess is that we are talking about a total of at least 200,000,000 letters!

As a disgruntled taxpayer, I am not nearly as excited as those who may benefit from this one unnecessary letter. Although It may be that I will suggest to my creditors that they send me warning letters regarding their forthcoming bills, at this point I believe I would favor those responsible for the referenced letter being summarily dismissed.

Best personal regards,

2 SAMUEL
David is brought the news of the defeat of the Israelites and the death of Saul and David’s good friend, Jonathan. Naturally, David is sad. David was king of Judah for 7 years and then also became the king of Israel for another 33 years. There was much fighting and killing.

While David’s army was away fighting, David saw the beautiful wife of one of the soldiers, Bathsheba. He had her come to him and she became pregnant. David sent for her husband so he would sleep with his wife and later think that he had fathered the child. But, he did not sleep with her. David sent him back to the fighting with instructions that he should be in the forefront. He was killed. Bathsheba married David and gave birth to a son. The LORD was angry with David and the boy died. David knew that he had sinned and prayed for forgiveness. Later, Bathsheba had another son, Solomon.

Absalom, another of David’s sons, raped his half-sister, Tamar and was somewhat of a problem child. Later, he tried to overthrow David but was himself killed. David deeply mourned his death.

Fighting and killing continued. David, once again, angered The LORD but, after they endured a plague, he was forgiven.

One of the reasons that Linden posts this blog is that he hopes to make a difference. Usually the difference he hopes to make is to enlighten you in regard to conservative values. Other times it is an expression of his Christian faith. The music link he provides is for the purpose of sharing his enjoyment.

Bill and Carolyn Strafford and Steve and Jerry Craney just returned from a mission related trip to New Zealand and Australia and were on George Street that is mentioned in the making a difference related video immediately below. Great story! H/T Chris.

Friday I woke up, wide awake. Looked at the clock and thought it read 5:00 which is when I had the alarm set for, dressed, went downstairs to the computer, looked at the clock there and it was only 1:35! I had misread the upstairs clock!! Went back to bed, got up at 5:00 and went to Men’s Prayer Breakfast at church. Saturday I went to Kingsway for another breakfast meeting. Later, did a load of wash and also received a welcome call from Norma Jordan. She was through the Plainfield area on the way from the home of her daughter to her home in Vincennes. She and her husband, Mike, about four years ago drove me to Julie and Kenneth’s wedding in Louisiana. We stayed in the French Quarter but the wedding was in a plantation mansion. Sunday brought church and Sunday school and an open house for Wendy Wagoner who is going to Africa soon.

BIG JIM
It seemed that the “news” of the day centered upon the many uncertainties surrounding President Obama’s (The Corpseman) attempting to degrade our healthcare. Linden chose to ignore this, for today.

The courageous stand of Senator Jim Bunning was still getting a bit of play and Linden thought you would be better served being exposed to some thoughts, via links, on this subject. Also, Ann Coulter brings us a funny/sad exposure to ACORN, As usual, the music link is worth listening to.

Linden joins the majority of the rest of the nation in believing that the healthcare bills presented by the House and the Senate are absolutely undesirable. Any bill that approaches being 2,000 pages in length is almost certain to contain a great number of undesirable elements.

In the link below to Betsy’s 20 page bill you can view a much more reasonable in length bill that may also address most of the desirable elements in addressing this “problem.” If, indeed, it is a problem.

At the end of the linked article there is defendyourhealthcare.us - if you go to this you can view her 20 page bill if you click on “BILL TEXT”. While there, you should view the two videos of her which are presented there.

1 SAMUEL
Samuel, Saul, and David are the main characters in this book. It was written sometime around 1000 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. The mother of Samuel had dedicated him to The Lord and she took him to serve with Eli, the priest, when Samuel was still just a child.

The Philistines defeated Israel and too the Ark of the Covenant with them when they returned to their homeland. The Lord caused a plague to come upon them and after some months they returned the Ark to Israel.

Samuel told the Israelites to turn away from idol worship and when they did, the Philistines were defeated and Samuel served as judge and prophet most of his life.

Because Samuel’s sons did not serve as they should, the people asked Samuel to find them a king. Saul became that king. Trouble with the Philistines continued. Jonathan, Saul’s son, acquitted himself well but Saul became a bad king.

The Lord selected David, son of Jesse, to be the next king and he later killed Goliath, the warrior of the Philistines. David while yet young becomes a favorite of Saul and dear friend of Jonathan.

David marries Saul’s daughter but Saul becomes jealous of David and tries to kill him. Jonathan and David remain close friends and Saul also attempted to kill Jonathan.

In order to escape from Saul, David joins with the Philistines who are again at war with Israel. All of Saul’s sons are killed and Saul
Commits suicide.

BRAVO SENATOR BUNNING
Although he is being liberally castigated for objecting to a bill before the Senate which was, among a number of other things, to extend unemployment benefits, Linden feels that his action was long overdue. This does not mean that Linden, and presumably the Senator, have no feeling of empathy for those unemployed who are in need of assistance.

Rather his action called attention to the sloppy manner in which we as American citizens are being represented in Washington. This bill, in order to prevent interruption of unemployment benefits, was presented to the Senate on February 25 and required action by February 28. Perhaps the Senate and the House should have paid more attention to needs such as this and less attention to healthcare related legislation.

This bill was typical of so many others…it bundled a number of unrelated matters into a single bill in the hope that it could not be delayed because of the number of “worthwhile” elements. SLOPPY is the name for lawmaking of this type.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Since Linden was expecting Julie and Jade late in the day, Sandi was kind enough to come by and clean his living area. Linden is not an accomplished housekeeper. Just as a matter of record, he is slightly deficient in some other areas, as well.

THE HEALTHCARE SUMMIT
The lamestream media apparently devoted very little attention to what was billed as a defining healthcare meeting: this is a sure sign that the Republicans performed better than that media hoped.

Our white President (The Corpseman) controlled and dominated the allocated time by frequently suggesting that shortcomings in the Senate and House bills were not really the matter which was being discussed.

The W.P., in closing, suggested that the democrats were just going to pass this deeply flawed legislation regardless of anything, including public sentiment. Surely no thinking American continues to support him.

The links below bring you an excellent “Healthcare Summit”,
article, another view of Sarah Palin, a really great, from the conservative standpoint, rating of all the Representatives and Senators, and the music title is a possible reflection of the type of representation we commonly have.

LINDEN'S LIFE
The primary items of interest on Friday and Saturday were the Men’s Prayer Breakfast and the Chamber of Commerce fund raising dinner and auction. Since Kent was responsible for this latter affair, Donna picked me up for the short ride there. It was enjoyable…I didn’t bid on any thing.
Sunday was church services, Sunday school, and brunch with friends. Continued to watch the U.S. hockey team on TV as they
Won a silver medal.
My friends, Lisa and Peter, who live in Maine won $5,000.00 for the pet center where she works in a contest sponsored by Suburu. Lisa and their dog, Bella, are in the video. You may view the video here:
