LAMENTATIONS
This short continuation of the Book of Jeremiah can best be described as a book of tears. It appears to understand that the desolation heaped upon Jerusalem was the result of the sins of the Jewish nation and follows with heartfelt prayers that The LORD will relent and return the city to what it once was.

5 TO 4
It is possible that this title would be met with joy (or sorrow) if it pertained to a baseball game. But, when it is presented in regard to a Supreme Court decision where it is a constitutional interpretation matter, it is of somewhat greater importance.

Linden is, of course, referring to the decision wherein restoration of gun ownership rights was the question. Thankfully the liberal portion of this court did not prevail. Thank GOD for those five Conservative judges who upheld the second amendment to the Constitution.

A large question remains: what if one more of these judges had been a liberal nut-case? What can be done to purge those four from the court or, as least, guarantee that another of that ilk never gets confirmed to this court which is charged with interpreting, not amending our guaranteed rights. Linden is one of many who are concerned about the future of our once great country.

IT IS GEOGRAPHY TOO
Linden and Conservatives in general have long known that those who call themselves democrats have a decidedly warped view of what is desirable in the areas of economics, taxation, and freedom. Now, throw geography into that list of shortcomings.

While listening to Rush Limbaugh (my favorite news source) on Friday, a recording of a democrat speaking was very educational. The female speaking, Peggy West, a Milwaukee democrat who apparently favors criminal activity in the form of illegal entry into this country, said words to the effect that if Arizona were a border State, as Texas is, she could possibly look at their restrictions on illegal entry differently. Milwaukee…another area controlled by nut-case voters?

Friday brought the usual early morning Men’s Prayer Breakfast followed by a trip to the post office, to the credit union where I deposited my Indiana tax refund check (yippee,) and on to the BP gas station to fill up with gas. Then, I went for a short walk.
Saturday I went for a little longer walk, did two loads of wash and was tired the rest of the day.
Sunday was church and Sunday school and little else.

"BRILLIANT"
If Linden watched a great deal of television, which he does not, and if he watched the programs who utilize the voices he heard on probably the Rush Limbaugh radio show, which he probably would not, he would be struck with how many times different persons used the word “brilliant” when speaking of the replacement of General McChrystal.

There must have been close to ten different persons who referred to what was possibly a necessary personnel change as being “brilliant.” These o so serious sounding readers of “news” must all use the same writer. They succeeded in being tiresome.

Another in a long string of highly enjoyable breakfasts with Bill, Chuck, Jack, and Paul. There is probably more laughter in one of these meetings than there is in any such meeting held in Plainfield. For the second day in a row, I took a short walk…I’m almost to the point where I may start a serious walking regimen. Had a nice phone visit with Brian. Little else of note.

CAP AND TRADE
In response to an inquiry from a reader, Linden attempted to define Cap and Trade…the definition does not fully illustrate Linden’s contempt for those who support this truly crazy attempt to mollify those who believe in global warming.

“Since my personal bias dictates that I think anything Obama supports is bad for America, it is possible that I could use more information on the issue myself.

I believe that it is an effort (enforced by fines) to cause the level of carbon dioxide released, primarily by business, especially utilities, to be reduced. In it, the bureaucracy would determine what is an acceptable level of this release and provide credits which, could be sold, for those who are under their limit and fines for those who exceed their limit.

The end result will be a government enforced effort to turn the country away from dependence on coal and oil and replace it with GOD only knows what. Naturally, as Obama promised, the cost of electricity will skyrocket, thus effectively becoming a tax on every American and every American business.”

LINDEN'S LIFE
On our hottest day of the year so far, Linden chose to go for a short walk and followed that with a trip to three stores and the post office. It was the first walk of any length at all in months. Linden was exhausted when he returned home. Saw Warren Robbins at one of the stores: he was the minister in my church years and years ago.

JEREMIAH
Jeremiah came of the scene as a prophet about one hundred years after Isaiah. At that time, Jerusalem was a very wicked city and idol worship was rampant.

Jeremiah spent his years foretelling that Babylon would be the victor in the power struggle with Assyria over which would be the dominant world power.

He also warned again and again, with many tears that GOD would forgive if the Jews would turn from their wicked ways. They did not, they were defeated and Jerusalem was burned.

FAILING THE RESPONSIBILITY TEST
Linden does not remember any in depth knowledge that he may have had regarding exactly what a new President swears to when he takes the oath of office. However, it does seem reasonable to assume that somewhere within the oath a promise to impartially enforce federal laws and to not put political considerations ahead of the overall welfare of the country would be part of what one swears to.

When Linden started writing this little preamble, he was sure that somewhere within it he would use the word “impeachment.” As you view the contents of the links below, you should make the determination whether the time should be now or not.

Julie told me that their power came on about 5:00 Tuesday morning. I joined Gerri Hera and Richard Ntim for a very pleasant lunch at Larry and Wanda’s. Richard, from Ghana, Africa was here for our Vacation Bible School and other meetings. Gerri and her husband, Ron, are heavily involved with the support of Richard’s ministry.
In the evening, seven of us from church went to the East side of Indianapolis for the Capital District Christian Men’s Fellowship meeting. Good food and a good presentation by a minister from Haiti. There was a great deal of rain and lightning after I went to bed.

ONE YEAR AGO
Ask yourself, have things gotten better? On June 23 of 2009 the following was the posting made by Linden:
10.4 PERCENT:
This is how far we are through the term of the Obama election. Many really bad things have happened thus far. Lets consider some of them.
Abortion: Obama has lent support to this abomination both within our country and around the world.
ACORN: Much taxpayer money has been funneled to them.
Bailouts: More taxpayer money, few if any positive results.
Card Check: An effort to force unionization is underway.
Defense budget: We grow weaker.
Economy: Stimulus promises made few if any results.
Foreclosures: continue.
Healthcare: Trying to put the inefficient government in control.
Hate crimes: This blow to freedom is being pushed.
Israel: our long term friend is being abandoned.
Inflation: This insane spending has to result in inflation.
Largest budget ever: much spending, no results.
Marriage: being weakened.
Tax cheats: many in the administration.
Taxpayer friends: not nearly enough in government.

Prayer breakfasts at Plainfield Christian on Friday and Kingsway Christian on Saturday. I had some things that I needed to take care of and missed the writers group meeting. In addition, I discovered that a group of singers performance which I thought was on Sunday was actually on Saturday and I missed it too. Nuts.
Sunday brought church and Sunday school attendance. Shortly after I arrived back home, Julie called. She had taken two-year-old Jade for a swimming lesson and called from her car because the power had been out at her home since a storm on Friday. They lost a bunch of refrigerated food.
Shortly after the talk with Julie ended, Brian called. Since I had talked with him several times recently, nothing much new…just a “Happy Father’s Day” call. My kids make me the luckiest father in the world.

No other words fits in with Linden’s thinking in regard to the interactions between our “leaders” and BP in regard to the Gulf oil problem. Certainly this is not to suggest that BP is without guilt in regard to this oil spill but it is difficult to see how they are more at fault than our government or the environmentalists and their supporters in Congress.

Rather that putting the entire burden on BP, Linden would have preferred to see massive penalties for those in government and , perhaps Al Gore and those environmental organizations which have contributed heavily to Congressional campaigns.

LINDEN, ONE IN ONE MILLION?
Shortly after the primary election in Nevada, Linden was listening to a talk radio program, maybe Rush Limbaugh, and Sharron Angle, the Republican nominee, was speaking. She mentioned the need for money and said that maybe twenty five million dollars would be necessary to mount a good campaign against Senator Reid. Linden thought, “if one million people would chip in twenty five bucks each that might do the trick.” A few moments later, she said essentially the same thing. Surely one million people would pay that amount or more to get rid of Reid.

Linden did not find a mailing address immediately when he made an inquiry on her name but yesterday sent his contribution to Friends of Sharron Angle, P.O. Box 33058, Reno, NV 89533. He sincerely hopes that another 999,999 people will do the same. A reference to her will be made in the list of my contributions below.

Isaiah, perhaps the most revered of all the Old Testament prophets, lived roughly 700 years before the birth of JESUS CHRIST.

He was a prophet of Judah at the time the Northern Kingdom was falling to Assyria and the South (Judah) was being threatened. Thanks to Isaiah, Jerusalem was saved once but, later, also fell.

Isaiah outlined the false religiosity of the day and spoke of the anger of GOD regarding it and the price that was to be paid before the Jews would be allowed to return.

His predictions extended from his own time through and beyond the time of the coming of JESUS CHRIST.

SOME VOTERS DON'T (CAN'T) THINK
We need no better evidence to support the claim made in the title of this piece than the selection of Mr. Greene by South Carolina democrat voters. Linden believes this shortage of thinking ability extends to those who voted for our present President.

If you check this site frequently, it will come as no surprise to you for Linden to reiterate that he has great admiration for the thinking and writing ability of Kyle-Anne Shiver. Shortly after starting his blogging effort, almost 700 postings ago, he became aware of her and proceeded to communicate his approval to her. Today, Linden presents a link to an article by her after sharing some of our correspondence following his reading of the article.

First, Linden’s note to her:
I've wondered how we can influence those who voted for Obama. Based upon a most uncomfortable exchange with a dear friend who is one of that group, I wonder if they are teachable in this regard.

Next, her response:
On Obama voters and whether they are teachable or not...we should always remember, I think, that just because someone acts defensive in our presence does not mean that the person will not consider our opinion in private and give it some thought. While many will be too proud to change views in our presence, we have no way of knowing the powerful impact of what we have said when they are alone. Therefore, I think it is imperative for us all to confront, confront, confront. And then we will know we have done all we could.

Awakened and had the blog posting completed before 7:00, had breakfast, biscuits and maple syrup, over by 8:00 and the paper read and the Sudoku puzzle worked by 9:00. Then made a quick trip to Indianapolis, picked up my mail at the post office, and did a few household tasks later. Worked a nap in there somewhere…it really irritates me that I tire so easily.

REFUSING RESPONSIBILITY
Many, many, many, many times Linden and others have addressed the shortcomings of our half-white President and the Congressional actions he controls. Rarely, if ever, have these reports looked with favor on their efforts to turn our country into a replica of many of the countries that are part of the dung heap of world society.

The abdication of responsibility of the democrat controlled Senate when they “considered” the Republican supported movement to force the Cap and Tax to be addressed by the legislative body rather than an action by one of the many bureaucracies was, in Linden’s estimation, an action that bordered upon being criminal.

Granted, a few democrats did vote properly. Their vote was not needed by the democrats and many of them needed the political cover provided by voting as they should. Check out the following video link.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Men’s Prayer Breakfast on Friday followed by perhaps the best ever Vacation Bible School closing ceremonies. The kids were so excited!! Richard Ntim was here from Ghana to assist with VBS and a great deal of money was raised to support his Christian school. Later in the day, my friend, Joyce, dropped by for a short visit…she had been at a poetry related effort in Putnam County.

On Saturday I put together a short (but time consuming) benevolence related report and dropped it off at the church office and visited a bit while there. Sunday brought church and Sunday school service followed by brunch with friends. Not feeling too well, I took a long nap in the afternoon.

It is good to discover that Katie Davis has returned to her ministry in Africa and, after a long absence has resumed blogging… check her out at kissesfromkatie, below.

DISPLAYING LEADERSHIP
You would be slow indeed not to know that Linden believes that our half-white President is completely devoid of any of the qualities that define a true leader. Y’all elected an empty suit!

Linden has attended few of the May 500 mile races in Indianapolis since he was often assigned there during his work life. He often does listen to or watch the televised action at the track. This year, in the last minutes of attempting to qualify for the race, we saw a real display of leadership type decision making. Realize that the outcome of making such a decision may be either successful or not…it is the decision making that defines the leader.

Sarah Fisher, in these last qualifying minutes had to make the decision as to whether her back-up car would be withdrawn and attempt to re-qualify at a higher speed or should she just hope that the car would not be knocked from the field. She opted to try to withdraw and attempt to qualify at a higher speed…the car failed in this effort and in a matter of minutes her not well funded racing team lost probably a quarter million dollars. Linden admires her. Maybe there is just something about the name Sarah.

LINDEN'S LIFE
Attended the usual Thursday breakfast meeting with Bill, Chuck, Jack, and Paul. This is a most pleasant way to start a day! In the afternoon I stopped to shoot a few baskets at a portable goal that was in the parking lot and it had a couple of basketballs with it. I was a young 70 years old the last time I thought I would test my skills…broke a finger in the process. Later, I messed up my right arm enough that I couldn’t get the ball up to the rim and my vision went south too. Today was not impressive.
In an effort to straighten out a tax discrepancy, probably caused by me, I talked to a really nice person at the Dept. of Revenue. Later, Gail at the church office faxed some paperwork to them and I may soon be rich.

SONG OF SOLOMON
More questions than answers surround this short Bible book of primarily human love. Some think it was written by Solomon, some not, some even think there were multiple authors and the where and when it was written is generally considered to be uncertain. Some think that it is beautiful, some not. Some even think that the thoughts expressed in the poems were based upon imaginary situations. Read it and attempt to make up your own mind.

BLAME AN ENVIRONMENTALIST
Probably more accurately Linden should say “blame those who write our laws and guide our approach to addressing matters which may be related to environmental issues.”

The name “Sierra Club” comes first to mind when I think of those who have done harm to our country. There are enough matters and issues to which many other organizations and “leaders” should be held responsible.

Had not these “leaders” succumbed to the wiles of these groups and those they bought, there would not now be a problem with oil in the Gulf of Mexico. These groups and these “leaders, not BP, should pay damages to those who are being harmed.

It is far past time to expand drilling in areas that are not covered by deep water. By that, I mean on dry land. Linden wishes that Sarah Palin were President!

LINDEN'S LIFE
First, I must say that I regret that I did not see an excellent writing by Kyle-Anne Shiver before completing my Monday posting. It would have been a nice fit with my thoughts. See it at: http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/06/shouldnt_we_all_be_israelis_no.html

While walking out to get my morning paper I met three church staff members getting ready for the first day of Vacation Bible School with around 1,000 kids attending and probably 300 adult helpers. I will park my car in the church lot this week.

Other than talking to Brian, I believe that I can safely say that the high point of my day was lunch with Sam. We first met over thirty years ago at a time of career change for each of us. We have been friends ever since. We ate at the place where I, poverty stricken at the time, took Julie for our first decent meal in a couple of months. The place will always be special to me and probably to her as well.

ABANDONING FRIENDS
In the difficult arena of international relations the U.S. has usually been thought to include Britain and Israel among our small list of friends. Now, with our half-white (we will not shoulder the blacks with all the blame) incompetent President and our equally lackluster Secretary of State handling foreign relations, few nations will be so foolish as to consider us to be good and reliable friends.
Certainly, Israel will make no such mistake.

Our foreign policy consists primarily of whining, apologizing, and kow-towing to those Muslin nations who are most intent on wiping us from the face of the earth. Jimmy Carter, in comparison, looks like an absolute genius!

SHORT VACATION

Linden has returned to Plainfield after spending a few wonderful days at Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, TN. Over 50 oldsters from Plainfield Christian Church attended and the fellowship was great. The bus driver was very good as were the classes, food, free time events, living accommodations, entertainment and caring staff. It was a Linden’s 7th time to attend “The Senior Saints In The Smokies” and each year it gets better.

The regular posting schedule and emphasis should resume on Monday.
