BEING LAZY

It is not uncommon at all to hear a reasonably intelligent person repeat the media slant that Congress is doing a lousy job and in the same vein to hear it said that those competing for the Republican Presidential nomination are a very weak bunch.
The link below to the Deroy Murdock article will illustrate to all that are not too lazy to investigate that the Republican House has been very busy and is doing a pretty good job. It also shows that the democrat controlled Senate is a bunch of weak sisters. You should know this!
Also, compared to the current White House occupant, the field of Republican candidates look like a super race to those not too lazy to compare.

BEING IMPATIENT

The election results of 2010 were cause for much celebration for those who come even close to thinking as Linden does. Unfortunately, he, as is true of others, thought that perhaps he would see a quick and complete change in the direction which had been set by the democrat party. It was a good hope but the needed change will take longer.
By no means does this mean that no progress has been made but you will wait a while before you see the media adequately report those instances where this Republican majority in the House has worked to the benefit of the taxpaying public. It may not be reported but it has already helped.
If, as we should, we should see the current inept President and the current balance of power in the Senate (which currently blocks much good legislation) changed dramatically, and the Republican House majority retained or expanded, then we should realistically expect positive results. Now, we can only be impatient.

MATTHEW 28:1-20

At dawn, on the first day after the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the tomb where Jesus had been laid. There was an earthquake and an angel came and rolled away the stone that had blocked the entrance to the tomb and sat upon the stone. The guards were terrified.
The angel explained to the women that Jesus had risen and to go and tell the disciples that Jesus would see them in Galilee. Jesus himself greeted the women as they were on the way to tell the disciples.
The guards went into the city and reported all that had happened. They were given some money and told to report that the disciples had taken the body of Jesus. The disciples went to Galilee and met with Jesus and he gave them further instructions.

TEA PARTY MEETINGS

There is little doubt that Tea Party members and supporters had a great effect on the results of the 2010 Congressional elections. It appears that their influence will continue.
In Greenfield, Indiana, on Saturday, a large meeting comprised of members of over 50 Indiana Tea Party organizations endorsed Richard Mourdock to be the next Senator from Indiana. Paul’s wife, Judy Gunning, sang a couple of patriotic songs for the attendees.
Paul and Judy picked me up Monday evening and we went to a regular Tea Party meeting in Avon. There were about 75 attendees and it was a good meeting with the speaker focusing on Second Amendment matters.

HERMAN THE RACIST?

Even of more interest to Linden than was Herman Cain being the runaway winner in the Florida campaign event was Herman’s response to a Morgan Freeman diatribe against Tea Party types. SAD IGNORANCE seems to aptly describe Freeman’s words. Linden wanted to say that on his own but Herman’s words carry more weight. The links below address this and, from Linden’s perspective, contain a disgusting article regarding the House honoring Representative Rangel. What is House Leadership thinking… or are they?

My niece, Peggy, often sends me a message card…the one today said, “Do unto others as though you were the others.
SATURDAY: went to the AAA office and a place that sells caramel corn in Avon…stopped by the post office on the way home. Brenda, the Secretary at the last place I was employed, called…she is fighting cancer.
SUNDAY: church and Sunday school services and on to brunch with friends. At church, Steve White brought me greetings from Jacob, a Minister I had met in Austria, and Theresa Engledow brought me chocolates and a lovely card with a picture from my friends Kevin and Dimi and their daughter…they now work at TCM in Austria. Love my contacts there. Julie was in Plainfield…she and Jade came by in the evening with food from Grays. We had a nice visit and watched one of Jade’s movies. ANOTHER GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN?

It seems to Linden like it has only been a few short weeks since there was much to-do about the need for special action to avert the shutdown of government “services” until at least some time in 2012. Happy thought!
Now, it seems like another ugly financial problem has surfaced which again threatens a shutdown. This is a continuing evidence of the failure of those elected to do their jobs.
It is unlikely that those most responsible will ever voluntarily accept blame for their pitiful performance. So, it is the duty of voters to attempt to do so. On more than one occasion Linden has heard that there has been no success in this area in well over 800 days. This probably means that it goes back to when the democrats won control of both legislative bodies in 2006. Can you think of a single good reason to vote for a democrat?

DOLLARS DANCING AWAY

As the first link below illustrates, a great investment of stimulus funds was made at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte to cause imaging of dance moves to be captured. Who can dispute that this is an illustration of good use of taxpayer funds? Well, Linden would be one that disputes the benefit of this ridiculous expenditure. I suppose the other 99 people who had a tax bill of around $7,600.00 last year might also consider it waste.
Some commented that the percentage of total waste is so small that it should just be ignored. Not so! This and every like project should be identified and those bureaucrats who approved the expenditure should be fired. This does not mean that focus on larger waste items should be neglected. DO AWAY WITH ALL WASTE?

MATTHEW 27:1-65

Jesus was handed over to Pilate. When Judas saw this he threw the thirty pieces of silver back into the temple and then hanged himself. The thirty pieces of silver were used to buy a burial field: this fulfills the prophesy of Jeremiah.
The crowd chose Jesus to be crucified so he was flogged and handed over. The soldiers mocked him and he was crucified. After hours of hanging on the cross (the land was covered with darkness) Jesus died, the curtain of the temple split in two and there was an earthquake. Some then believed that he was the Son of God. Jesus was placed in a sealed and guarded tomb.

CONCEPTS

In answer to the latest Obama plan to raise a trillion and a half additional tax dollars by taxing the rich (do you have any idea how much a trillion is?) Rush Limbaugh presented the interesting concept of raising taxes on all those who voted for Obama. Sounds reasonable to Linden.
Somewhat connected to the thought processes of Obama are the two links presented below: in the first a correlation is made between Nixon’s Watergate and the Obama administration’s Solyndra, LightSquared, and the Fast and Furious gun running scandal. In the second, the Congressional Black Caucus’s problem of being very reluctant to criticize Obama and their duty to properly represent their constituency.

PITIFUL POLLING PRACTICES

In previous postings Linden has mentioned how little confidence he has in published polling results. For some time, Obama’s approval rating has hovered around the 40% mark, according to the pollsters. There is no way! Granted, the educational system in our country has been on a downward spiral for many years but it is not possible that more than 30% of thinking people would approve of him. Those who do say they approve of his leadership are really mostly just judging his skin color.
Worse than the Obama reports are those that rate Congress! They treat Congress as if it is one entity rather than being comprised of the House and the Senate. Their recently reported 12 to 15 percent reported approval rating of Congress is blind to the fact that the House recently voted to stop the bureaucrats from stopping building a factory in South Carolina…this would have to receive a 90% or higher approval rating from thinking people. Of course, this House action will be stymied in the democrat controlled Senate. THINK!

IS THIS ENRON 2?

The various news sources have been focusing more than is normal for them to do when it makes the democrats appear to be less than desirable on the state of affairs in the ongoing diversion of taxpayer money to “green” projects.
The bankruptcy filing by Solyndra which very well may cost we taxpayers over a half billion hard earned dollars has been the primary story in this area. Both Obama and the Vice President were just exuberant in their praise for this company at an earlier time…not that long ago. Particularly suspicious is the number and amount of donations to the Obama campaign. Could he be bought?

ELECTION RESULTS

Really competent bloggers, columnists, and writers in general are more than unlikely to report that they simply did not have time to adequately prepare their particular effort for the day: not so Linden.
All reports received as of this writing indicate that the Republicans retained a House seat in Nevada and captured, for the first time in around ninety years, the contested seat in New York. Perhaps we will write more about that in the days to come. Looks like a celebration is in order.

MATTHEW 26:1 - 26:75

Jesus told his disciples that he would soon be crucified. Later, a woman poured a jar of expensive perfume over the head of Jesus. He said that she was preparing him for burial. Judas plotted with the chief priests to betray Jesus.
Jesus and the disciples had their Passover meal together and then went out to the Mount of Olives where Jesus told Peter that he would disown him three times before the rooster crowed. Then, the disciples could not stay awake while Jesus prayed regarding the upcoming events.
A crowd came with Judas and Jesus was arrested. The process of trying Jesus was started and he was beaten. Peter did disown him three times before the rooster crowed. Remembering the words of Jesus, he went outside and cried.

A NON-EXISTENT BILL

Last week President Obama called for the immediate congressional passage of a bill which had not yet been submitted for consideration. This brings back memories of Nancy Pelosi saying that a bill had to be passed before we would know what was in it. Sorrowfully, she was correct…now we know that the bill should never have been passed. Perhaps the appearance of the President was just last week’s campaign appearance.
Rumor has it that the bill be available later on this date. ADVICE TO CONGRESS: READ THE BILL THOROUGHLY. ANALYZE IT EVEN MORE THOROUGHLY. If it is remotely close to being like the previous failed Obama initiatives, reject it immediately. Following link is related.

OBAMA'S JOBS SPEECH

Granted, Linden did not expect to be enthralled with this speech…he wasn’t. It was even worse than he anticipated. First, the President started off with a recitation of obvious facts which could have easily been presented by a high school freshman. Worse was the bursts of light applause which were completely unexplainable. Really dumb!
He called for business tax cuts which can be a good move. Called for returning teachers back to work and extending unemployment insurance: both need specifics. Called for a $4,000.00 tax credit for hiring. This, of course, does not come close to covering the cost of making a new hire. He also mentioned a tax increase and that he would provide more info later. Congress better read any related bill.

REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

It was a pleasure to watch. Linden believes we will have another candidate or two announce before we know who all will be running and he believes it is too early to endorse anyone. With that said, here is his rankings at this point, taking into consideration the debate and previous biases.

With our President preparing to make a job related campaign speech soon, Linden thought his readers may well wish to have some references to his previous presentations. Last Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday you were brought items of particular interest to Linden. IT'S A BLACK DAY

As Linden continues the countdown to his 1,000th (this is #998) posting and with political news being in short supply, he is bringing you links to older videos that he thought should be replayed from time to time. Monday it was one of the great British Member of Parliament, Daniel Hannon. Tuesday the Second Amendment was explained to a dense Senate committee, Thursday a movie clip that Linden finds particularly moving, and today the featured clip is one of Al Sharpton playing the part of a television host. It is fair to say that he is one of those that Linden finds to be totally without merit.
This can be considered a black day because the focus is on Sharpton, Indiana Congressman Carson, President Obama, and a gifted writer, Shelby Steele… all black. Even the song from 1923 is performed by a black. Linden is not.
