This posting is not nearly as complete as was hoped for...this new computer is providing usage difficulties that were not expected. To this point, it is providing service that is vastly inferior to the old model that was happily efficient. The past three months have for me provided a wonderful trip to Ireland, a surgery, some health concerns, a computer crash and the purchase of a new computer that is testing my temper control. I seem to have returned to most of my old schedule...this past weekend brought breakfast at the Legion Post, saying goodbye to Julie and Jade as they returned home, church and Sunday School attendance, brunch with friends and attendance at an affair honoring veterans at the Elks Club.

COMMENTARY: TUESDAY’S DEBATE

This was the best debate presented to date: both the moderators and the candidates did a good job. I watched it and also caught part of the debate featuring the four lesser candidates. I ranked the performance of the eight leading candidates as follows: 1. Fiorina, 2. Cruz, 3. Rubio, 4. Trump, 5. Carson, 6.Paul, 7. Bush, and 8. Kasich. This Veterans Day began for me at Chick-fil-A having my usual breakfast. Back home, I accomplished even less than usual, if possible. Did have a nice long talk with Julie and a shorter one with Brian. Also sent a note to RTE, the Irish radio station I listen to, extending greetings to the American Legion members in Ireland: it was read on the air. In the evening I had dinner and attended a study at church.

The current student unrest in Missouri is responsible for the production of this very short commentary and much longer group of linked articles. Perhaps the solution, if there is one, may be found in one or more of the linked articles. Linden’s belief is that strict enforcement of expectations could be a desirable place to start.

Tuesday started with Lloyd coming by for me and then we went to the  Hendricks County GOP Chairman’s Breakfast: good breakfast and a good meeting. After returning home I dropped off my recyclables, picked up my post office mail, and went to a bank. Received another call from “Cardholder Services” at 12:30. They had also called last Thursday and again Friday. Think I irritated their first caller so now I must be on their harass him list.

COMMENTARY: NO ENDORSEMENT IMPLIED

It should not surprise you that I think it too early to endorse any of the current Republican candidates for the office of President. Neither should it surprise you that I believe almost anyone, including you, gentle reader, would be a welcome change from the current holder of that office. The purpose of this posting is to call attention, once again, to the obvious fact that much of the media is carrying water for the democrat party. Today I resumed my usual activities after taking some time off for surgery recouping. I’m fine and not a lot slower than usual. Biscuits and gravy at Chick-fil-A started my day then I went to a store and then post office. Ron Hera called and we had lunch at White Castle. In the evening Josh picked me up and we went for dinner and conversation at Paul and Judys. Jack and Helen were also there. Very nice evening.

COMMENTARY: OCTOBER CHRISTIAN STUDIES

After little church related activity in September, October brought me back to s pretty full schedule: Steve White presented from the pulpit sermons based on Job, John (twice), and The Savior. Jim Meyer and John Lee guided the Sunday School class primarily in a study of Mark. Our shortened Wednesday evening dinner and studies schedule were led by Bill Strafford and Josh Masterman. The devotions at Thursday meeting of a few guys were led by Paul, Jack, Chuck and me (twice). And the FridayFriday morning Men’s Prayer breakfasts were led by Steve White focusing on Psalm 119 and Ezekiel. . I also at4ended the men’s meetings at Kingsway, Chapel rock and the CDCMF meeting.

Brian drove the 300+ miles from his Ohio home to take me to the October 30 surgery: he and some good friends were with me until time for the surgery. Brian stayed until 11:00 A.M. on the following Tuesday. About 3 hours after Brian left, Julie arrived and stayed until Thursday afternoon. I do not know the words to fully express the happiness my kids and my friends bring me. I was told to not do much for a week following the surgery and I am very good at doing nothing so today is the start of my return to my usual activities.
