COMMENTARY: NEW BURDEN FOR INDIANA TAXPAYERS?

How is that for a happy title??? Linden has heard and/or read very little about the effects of the failure of our federal government to adequately safeguard our southern border. Sleep was almost nonexistent on Monday night so Tuesday I was a dead head for most of the day. Got up at 7:00 but after blog posting and breakfast I napped on and off until about noon. In the afternoon Dan, Diana, and Craig dropped by and while here got my stove operational again. Later, I had a nice phone visit with Brian and Mark Proctor dropped by to talk about projects. I had dinner at the Avon Legion Post.

COMMENTARY: 39%: HOW CAN IT BE?

The article linked below claims to report the results of a President Obama’s job approval poll. Unless his job is defined as playing golf and/or conducting political fund raising efforts this poll can be correct only if one of three possible situations exist: (1.) the educational system has almost completely ruined the ability of American citizens to think; (2.) the percentage of mental health impairment among the citizenry is more prevalent than reported; and/or (3.) the poll was wildly inaccurate.

Friday started with a very good breakfast followed by an equally good review of Galatians at the Men’s Prayer Breakfast. Later, I went to three stores and the post office and corresponded with Alison regarding cooking.

On Saturday Sam joined me for breakfast at the Legion, good food. Jim and Dottie joined us. Back home Sam gave me a “Yooper” (upper peninsula) tee shirt and a recent copy of The Bloomington Pantagraph. I was a carrier for that paper when I lived in Farmer City, IL 72 years ago. We then discussed my extensive plans for the next year.

Sunday brought church and Sunday School attendance followed by brunch with friends. I watched the Brickyard 400 in the afternoon and some boxing in the evening. The stove shorted out while I was cooking…don’t know if it is fixable and I fell once but only suffered minor pain.

COMMENTARY: THE END OF HARRY REID CONTROL?

One of the major reasons why our country is in the pitiful condition at present is that Harry Reid has absolute control of the Senate. The democrats currently rule that body and Linden has no idea how many House bills have failed to even be heard in the non functional Senate. Rest assured, it is a high number. Surely the voters are intelligent enough to throw several of the disaster causers out in just a few months. The Fred Barnes article linked below has given Linden some additional hope.

On Tuesday I had a car service appointment at 10:00 but it was reset to 2:00 and I spent a large part of the day thinking about car service. Jack came by later in the day: it was his turn to read at our Thursday meeting and, since he will not be able to make the meeting, brought the books by for me to fill in for him. He lost his billfold, apparently in a parking lot, but he called later and it had been found and returned to him. Lucky!! I had my evening meal at the Avon Legion Post.

COMMENTARY: ANOTHER FOREIGN POLICY BLUNDER?

As Secretary Kerry seems to be considering going to Egypt to discuss ways to put together a deal that will attempt to bring an end to the most recent flare up between Gaza and Israel, one has to wonder why the subject never came up anywhere in the Obama administration while Gaza was sending hundreds of rockets into Israel and Israel was responding feebly, at best. Could it be that in the Obama administration it is perfectly okay for any terrorist/Muslim to attack by any means a Christian or a Jew but it becomes a problem when those who are attacked respond with force?

Except for a trip to the post office, Monday was largely a quiet day at home. Dan and Diana dropped by for a bit. In the evening, I, along with four other guys went to a CDCMF meeting at Southport Heights Christian Church. Had a good dinner and Richard Ntim was the speaker: he has been working with the staff at Camp Allendale this summer. Richard is involved with the ministry in Ghana.

My Monday started with breakfast of biscuits and gravy and coffee at Chick-fil-A followed by a trip to the post office and then most of the rest of the day spent corresponding in form or another. It’s a busy life. In the afternoon I had visited a bit with the young man who, with his family, is staying in the Mission House. He is originally from Morocco. In the evening I phoned my friend in Wisconsin who is such a blessing to me. She and her family are originally from Bulgaria.

One Kringle was almond flavored and the other was rhubarb. Love both of them. Had a short chat with Brian sometime during the day.

The huge task facing those of us who think that there are very few things that influence all of us and has more effect upon our lives than politics and attempt to spread the word of truth is the large number of people and groups who are not interested in the truth being known. As an example, Rush Limbaugh in his Thursday broadcast mentioned a “news” group that had mislabeled a photo of our President in an attempt to show that he had visited one of the places where illegals were pouring across the border. Wednesday started with a trip to a store in Indianapolis then back to the Plainfield post office. Mid afternoon I went to the North American Christian Convention at the Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis and saw several people I know while there. Was only there for a couple of hours or so.

COMMENTARY: 119 and 853

Linden mentions Eric Holcomb below: he mentioned these two number in his talk to the gathered crowd. The first, 119, was the number of days until the 2014 general election: that is a very important date. The second number was the number of days until the new President takes office. It gives us 107 weeks to pray that the person who replaces our busily fundraising current President will be able to turn the present disaster around.

On Tuesday I attended the early morning GOP Chairman’s Breakfast had good food and enjoyed the presentation by Eric Holcomb, Senator Coats Chief of Staff. Eric has been heavily involved in many different facets of Republican politics. Back home, Brian called for a short visit and Lloyd dropped by for a short visit. Later, I got sweaty and tired from working around the house. Had a great dinner at the Avon Legion Post. I like the article linked below so much that I’m offering it for the second day in a row.

Friday I went to a store and at home, sorted through old papers…some of them bring sad memories. Read the paper while listening to my entire CD using the method outlined under Legacy (above.)

Saturday was mostly a replay of Friday. Did visit just a bit with the new occupants of the Mission House.

Sunday brought church and Sunday school attendance then a nice visit with Derek Dickinson of Journey Christian Church, Fairbanks, AK and George Johnson of Christian Evangelistic Association of Auburn, WN.
