COMMENTARY: TED AND CARLY

You may remember that very early in this presidential election cycle Linden wrote that his three favorite candidates were Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, and Scott Walker. No valid reason has ever arose to cause Linden to change his mind. He is pleased that Ted and Carly have joined forces and he has absolutely no doubt that this twosome is exactly what our country needs to start the return to greatness. COMMENTARY: IS IT OVER?

Some may think that Linden is asking if the 2016 presidential elections are over and the answer is “NO” he is asking if it is over for America. Imagine life where there is no social security income, not that it would make any difference because all your money would be WORTHLESS. No jobs, no security, and nothing to look forward to. You would have only what the new regime gave you. The 2008 and 2012 presidential elections proved that performance evaluation is not the electorate's strong point. Although it is scary, the article linked below is well written and well thought out.

Wednesday started with a trip out for breakfast then back home where I was busy in several different areas. In the afternoon I went to a drug store, picked up my mail and called the VA. In the evening I had dinner and attended a study at church.

COMMENTARY: CRUZ & THE TEA PARTY

“Taxed Enough Already” is a wonderful name for an organization and, of course, the first letter of each word, taken together spell the word “TEA.” The reason for the forming of the organization was the growing dissatisfaction with the work of our “leaders” in Washington. COMMENTARY: THE INDY HONOR FLIGHT:

Linden's writing skill is not sufficiently developed to adequately explain the deep emotions this Honor Flight brought to me, the other veterans, and our Guardians. Our day started at Plainfield High School where we had a light breakfast and then, at 7:00, Avon school buses took us to the airport where several people thanked us for our service before we quickly were aboard our large plane. It was a two plane effort. My Guardian, my daughter, Julie, estimated our D.C. airport welcoming crowd at about 1,000 people and the “thank you for your service” message was repeated numerous times throughout the day. The buses took us by the Iwo Jima and other memorials, I walked quite a bit around the Korean and WW II locations while Julie pushed me even greater distances in a wheelchair at the “changing of the guard” at Arlington cemetery and the Viet Nam memorial. I was too emotional to complete the Viet Nam one and Julie was probably most impressed with the one for Korea.

Our very full D.C. day ended: we had been fed three times before the return flight ended and we arrived back in Plainfield to a wonderful welcome by a very large crowd at the high school at about 9:00 P.M. Each of we 178 veterans were individually introduced as our Guardians wheeled us around the gym. It was a wonderful ceremony as was all the rest of the day and it is safe to say that none of we veterans had ever been so honored

Friday started with Men's Prayer Breakfast, The Indy Honor Flight was mentioned. Julie called as she started the trip down, then Brian called, and then I was surprised bgy a call from Rich Culp who was in Hawaii. In the evening Julie took me to the Indy Honor Flight dinner at Plainfield High School where we met Kent, our guest. The evening was unbelievably impressive: those volunteers were just perfect!

Saturday I arose at 4:30, Julie picked me up an hour later and we returned to the high school. The trip and return details are shown above. Julie returned me home at about midnight. I was really tired.

Sunday started with church and Sunday School attendance where I talked a bit about the Flight. I returned home and took a long nap. Julie returned and we had a good visit before she left for her home. Then read many notes, letters, and computer messages which were mostly good wishes regarding The Honor Flight.

It would probably be possible to find a large number of these overreaches but the article linked below addresses one that I would define as the government's attack on religious belief. Tuesday, after eating a less than completely satisfactory breakfast at home, I headed to the appointment with my optometrist. Friday started with Men's Prayer Breakfast at 6:00. Later, I got my car from the repair shop and was busy at home. In the evening Kent and Donna, thinking of my upcoming Honor Flight, took me to Martinsville to see the great memorial they have at the south east corner of the square and then, at the south west corner, the reading, while American Legion Riders stood at attention, of several lists of those who were killed or otherwise served our country. This was followed by a bugler playing Taps at this corner and two other corners on the square. It was really, really impressive. This was their 173^rd consecutive Friday night at 7:00 performance. We then stopped for a bite to eat. I was surprised and very pleased with the thoughtfulness evidenced by Kent and Donna.

Saturday at 7:30 I met with the Kingsway group of guys. We had a good meeting and good food. My mail brought me notice of a tax related problem. It was a busy day with little to brag about.

Sunday began with church and Sunday School attendance: the upcoming Honor Flight was mentioned several time. The rest of the day I was busy at home.

On Wednesday I walked about a mile in the gym at church before going out for breakfast. Made a connection in the hope that I can move the publication of my Ireland related trip forward Went to the post office and over to Pier 14. Had a nice Honor Flight related phone visit with Julie. Was much busier than these words would indicate. Had dinner and attended a study at church in the evening.

COMMENTARY: FAIR SHARE = WHAT?:

There is little to no chance that Linden will ever be part of the high income group However, that does not mean that he is oblivious to the unfairness of the current tax laws in regard to that group. Nor, is he supportive of the reported almost 50% who pay no income tax. Our tax laws are unfair and need to be corrected. Study the linked article.

On Monday I walked about a mile before going to Chick-fil-A for breakfast then on to the post office and by the church. Then, I was busy until evening: Chick-fil-A was celebrating the 14^th anniversary of the opening of the Plainfield location and I was joined for dinner there by Bob and Barbara.

Friday started with the early morning Men's Prayer Breakfast: when I returned home, I took a nap. Later, Carmen from Cardholder Services called again...that was about the high point for the day.

Saturday I was in Danville at 10:00 to attend a political session presented by Indy Defenders West: I had hoped to speak to Senate candidate Marlon Stutzman but needed to leave before he finished speaking. Later in the afternoon Ron, Don, and I went to the Legion Post to vote for some of the officers.

Sunday brought church and Sunday School attendance followed by brunch with friends. Later, I went to a store and addressed some pending tasks.

Thursday started with breakfast at Goody's with Chuck and Paul. As always it was a pleasant way to start the day. I then went to the credit union and at the post office the car in front of me stopped and blocked the entrance...think her transmission went out. I started pushing her car and others in blocked cars joined me and we got her into a parking space. I drove her to her home in Indianapolis. At lunch time I joined a goodly crowd at The Diner: it was good to talk to him a bit. He spent quite a bit of time at our table. Back home, I was my usual inefficient self.
