LINDEN'S LIFE:
Wednesday night was a rotten night for sleeping and early Thursday morning brought an opportunity to spend time with a totally uncooperative computer. Our breakfast meeting was another good one. Afterward, Bill came over to inspect my TV digital antenna. It would be nice if there were some way it could affect the programming that is offered. I guess “study” is the word I would use to define a major portion of the rest of my day.

WHAT KIND OF DUNCE
Would make a habit of not voting against many of the long term Congressional leaders? In fact, what kind of dunce would make a habit of not voting against practically every democrat who is now polluting the air in Washington, D.C.?

Linden does realize that, if we are to believe the polls, a goodly (or badly) portion of the populace still supports our totally inept White House Leader and, to a much lesser degree, those such as Biden, Reid, Pelosi, Gaithner, Rangel, Conyers, Dodd, Frank and a bunch of other undesirables.

Since those fitting the bill of those mentioned above are apparently unable or unwilling to self-educate, perhaps the three links which appear below will move them forward in that area. Linden will call the three item series “Two Ugly Guys And A Beauty.”

No person, let alone a government official, should be forgiven for attempting to foist such a hardship as this healthcare bill is onto any U.S. citizen. The appropriate punishment may be tar and feathers, horsewhipping, the stocks, perhaps some of the refined Indian methods of torture, or waterboarding. Certainly the supporters of this monstrosity should never be returned to office.

Something of this sort should be reserved for those who voted for these vipers and, to a lesser degree, for those who did not vote against them.

I talked to Brian for a long time—he has the Ronald Reagan book I’ve been looking for and he answered other questions for me. Great visit!

Jehoram became king of Judah—he killed his seven brothers and was evil. He lost battles and all of his possessions except for his youngest son, Ahaziah. Searched through a bunch of my books and did not find what I was looking for. This is not unusual.
At our dessert time last night, Jill gave me some of the blueberry thingys she made. I sent her an email today saying that I like blueberries. She responded with “next I’ll fix you a cucumber casserole.” Aaaagh! I seem to remember she said almost the same thing when we were in Austria.

A TEACHABLE MOMENT:
The incident in Cambridge was the subject of an Associated Press article by Nancy Benac which appeared in the Saturday issue of the Indianapolis Star. It indicated that the Harvard employee and our President are backpedaling on their initial stance. There has been mention of the possibility that tapes exist of conversations which took place. Linden certainly hopes that they not only exist but that they are adequately covered by reporters.

Since “a teachable moment” was within the article mentioned above, Linden will use this writing for just that purpose. (1.) There is no disputing the fact that an officer was dispatched to investigate a possible break-in. (2.) It is common knowledge that such a situation may result in personal danger for the officer so involved. (3.) Until identification is accepted by the officer, there remains doubt in his mind about all aspects of the situation. (4.) A person of even average intelligence will understand and agree with these possible constraints on their reaction. (5.) In keeping with item (4.) this is the wrong time to become loud and boisterous. (6.) In keeping with items (4.) and (5.) it appears that both the Harvard employee and our President have great difficulty mentally processing a situation of this type.

In Linden’s opinion, both the Harvard employee and the President have disgraced those who selected them for the position each hold.

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Friday brought the early morning Men’s Prayer Breakfast. Later, as I walked to check on the mail that is delivered here, I saw one of our members had run atop two large stones in the parking lot area and her vehicle was stuck atop them. I certainly hope it is not badly damaged but I’m afraid it may be.
Sunday brought church and Sunday school services followed by brunch with friends. Evening services in the grove of trees on the North property were good and were followed by a great number of desserts. Linden sampled several and brought some home as well.

PUBLIC SAFETY:
Linden believes that most of those involved in providing public safety for the populace are largely unsung heroes. It was with no approval that he read two page two articles in the Wednesday Indianapolis Star that had to do with that subject. The articles, although well written, were, in Linden’s estimation, unfairly critical of an officer of the law.

It seems that a Harvard professor of black studies returned from vacation and was observed, with a helper, breaking into his home. The observer called 911 and an officer was dispatched to the scene. He, of course, had to be aware that great personal danger often exists in what may be a home burglary situation.

According to reports, the professor was not thankful at all that there was warranted concern for his belongings. In fact, it appears that he was uncooperative and abusive. The officer went to the porch; the professor followed and remained loud and abusive. He was arrested. He claimed to be a victim of racial profiling and wants an apology. The city said it was regrettable and unfortunate and, apparently, the charges were dropped.

Linden believes that the professor should have been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, that your president displayed shocking ignorance when he said the police force acted stupidly, that the officer involved should sue the professor and the professor and Harvard should apologize.

Apart from this incident, questions do exist. Exactly why are some being paid big bucks to be purveyors of wisdom in the area of black studies? If this is a truly desirable field of study, would it not be equally desirable to provide European-American, Asian-American and other related expensive time wasting fields of study?

What a great day! Although Bill was absent, we had an enjoyable breakfast meeting. After I returned home, Jack called, said he forgot to bring me some food and then brought it over. I ran some errands, ended up at the post office and that wonderful Katia had sent me three Danish Kringles. The address of the O & H Danish Bakery is one of the early entries in my LINKS section below.

I did a couple loads of wash and for dinner I heated up the food that Jack brought and followed that with a warm slice of apricot Kringle. I’m happy when I eat well. I did other stuff but I’d rather think about food right now.

THE PRESIDENT'S PRESENTATION:
“Let Me Be Clear” was repeated by the President. Perhaps Linden is slow but, he was often confused. Long, rambling answers and not a lot of meat. Questions that were not adequately answered to Linden’s satisfaction or were not asked include: Why would it not be desirable to slow this process down to the point where the bill when it is finalized being presented to the public before being voted on. His answer regarding “are you being transparent” failed to favorably impress Linden. “Shouldn’t you and Congress have the same coverage as what is being mandated for the population?” Was danced around.

Linden was not impressed to learn that AARP endorses the effort: of course he is not favorably impressed with that organization. B.O. went off subject when asked how we would pay for this plan. He was quoted as saying that 97% of the citizens would be covered and that taxes would be raised on only those making more than a million dollars a year. Linden believed neither of those statements.

B.O. made several references to the mess he inherited and what good progress he has made in solving these problems. That is a little hard to swallow whole. Perhaps it is because Linden never had a good opinion of the good intent or of the ability of B.O. that he remains unimpressed. Perhaps Linden is justified.

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Although I seemed to be busy, I can point with pride to nothing that I accomplished other than getting a haircut. Not much pride there!

RESPONSIBLE REPRESENTATION:
It appears to Linden that Republicans in general and Conservatives in particular are approaching the point where they will demand that their representatives and other “leaders” fulfill their duty to the taxpaying public by being responsible representatives of those who pay their wages and benefits. There are even signs that some who prior to the present disaster did not associate themselves with the above mentioned political beliefs, are presently disillusioned.

Linden is considering the development of a rating system for those who “serve.” Naturally, at this point, all democrats, because of their blind support of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama, will be at the bottom of this rating system. It is possible that some “Blue Dogs” will rate more highly but, to this point, they have fallen in line with the three named above rather consistently.

So, the rating system will look primarily at Republicans. They will be awarded, and deservedly so, negative ratings for at least these flaws: voting at all if they or their staff has not read or evaluated a bill that is brought before them; support for bailouts starting in 2008; support of Cap and Trade legislation; support of the criminal takeover of the auto companies; support of governmental takeover of the healthcare system, support for tax cheats in any governmental position; and support for placing Sonia Sotomayor on the Supreme Court.

This list may be added to but it seems like a pretty good place to start. In that vein, please check the following link: Nancy J. Thorner, a Republican Precinct Committeeman, seems to think a lot like Linden. This link will be added to the ones kept for a few days: they appear below.

LINDEN'S LIFE:
Surely the high point of the day was not Linden’s attempt to play golf in the morning hours. He lost three balls within the first three holes and, later, lost his seven iron. Fortunately, it later reappeared. Linden was tired enough after this experience that he napped and rested extensively the rest of the day.
