Friday
started with breakfast at chick-fil-A and continued with household type tasks.
Dan and Diana came by for a short visit. I watched I.U. win another basketball
game.
Saturday
brought a great breakfast at The Legion Post, had a nice talk with Brian, did
some reading and watched Butler win another basketball game and also watched
some boxing.
Sunday
brought church and Sunday school services followed by reading the paper, doing
some paperwork, finished reading the book I have been enjoying, and talked to
Sam, Audrey and Julie.

Thursday
brought the usual pleasant breakfast meeting with the guys. Jack delivered two
very good readings. In the evening, Don & Donna hosted their annual
Christmas get together…five couples and me. It was absolutely great in every
respect. Well, it had snowed a bit when it was time to leave.

Considering
her frail physical condition, perhaps it makes sense to not expect Hillary
Clinton to testify before Congress in regard to the Benghazi debacle and it is
impossible to imagine that our failed policies in the Middle East are in any
way the fault of our illustrious leader. Therefore, it is with some sorrow that
Linden learns that an “investigation” has determined that mistakes were made
but by nobody in particular. It seems that some who may bear a modicum of blame
are in the process of resigning their State Department positions. Maybe the
article linked to below may shed some light on the situation. Just remember, no
blame goes to an inept President.

Wednesday
brought breakfast of biscuits and gravy at Chick-fil-A followed by taking the car to the shop where Robert
fixed the power steering problem in about five minutes. Picked up my mail and
went by the church for a minute. Kent brought me bean soup, potato salad, and
dessert for lunch then picked me up at 5:00 and we went to Bloomington to watch
Indiana win another basketball game. Good day!

Tuesday
brought Sandi to my place to clean it a bit so I used that time to join a
friend for a cinnamon roll and conversation. Later, I went to a grocery, the
gas station, the post office, and my car repair shop. For the first time in
many, many months, bought gas for less than three bucks a gallon. Did some
reading.

BLACK REPUBLICAN SENATOR?
It
seems that the only black serving in the United States Senate will be Nikki
Haley appointee Tim Scott. How can it be that a black conservative is a member
of the Republican Party? Perhaps he is smarter than the 90+% that blindly
pushes the “d” button. Supported by Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint and Tea Partiers in
general, it appears that Governor Haley has made a good choice. Maybe some of
the 90+% will start thinking…nyaaah, too much to hope for.

Monday
started in a great way by Norm and Jill coming out from Indianapolis, picking
me up and going to a leisurely breakfast, Great start for a day. Later, after
picking up my mail, Dan and Diana came by for coffee and a visit…they also
brought me cookies and a can of coffee…lucky me! In the evening, seven of us
went to a Capital District Christian Men’s Fellowship meeting at Fair Haven
Christian Church. A great quartet, “Witness” from Franklin, IN provided the
music. Had a very nice time and the food was good too.

has to be few thinking people who would not condemn the mass killings in
Connecticut as being the fault of a person with a severe mental handicap. There
are several leaders of governmental units and others who have renewed their
call to ban or severely restrict the purchase of guns. Linden believes that if
we are going to go that route, we should also consider banning the possession of
sharp knives…the first link below illustrates why this may be a good idea. The

high point of Friday was the Men’s Prayer Breakfast: recognition from IDES
consisted of notice of a sewing machine and 3 chickens being donated to honor
Steve and a goat and 2 chickens to honor Paul and the cooks.
Saturday
brought the 7:30 breakfast at Kingsway…I was the speaker. This was followed by
a Writers Group Christmas meeting at the Craig’s.
Sunday
brought church, Sunday school, brunch with friends and watching the Colts lose
a game.

morning brought trips to the Chamber of Commerce and the post office and the

The
announced departure of Senator DeMint from the Senate is disappointing news,
indeed. We need all the conservative voices we can get to try to move that body
toward sanity. It is so ineffective as to render it impossible to describe.
There are several new or relatively new conservative voices now in the Senate
and it must be ensured that DeMint is replaced with one who is close to his level
of conservative thought. The Heritage Foundation, one of Linden’s favorite
organizations, will continue to serve under DeMint’s leadership and we can only
pray that the conservative cause does not suffer because of this change.

Unfortunately
for America that appears to be no longer the case. The two quotes below were
excerpted from a message from morningbell@heritage.org and seem to adequately address the difference between then and
now.
Senator
Obama in 2006:
The fact that we
are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership
failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a
sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries
to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.

that "the buck stops here." Instead, Washington is shifting the

At
one time, and perhaps to the present day, this was a common expression at the
poker and craps tables. It was used in conjunction with the hope that, often
again high odds, you would get the card or roll the dice to obtain what was
needed to give you a good chance of winning. This is somewhat the same
situation the Republicans are in if they believe that the democrats will reduce
spending in the future if they are granted tax increases now. We have witnessed
these situations before where the gullible Republicans believed, to their
sorrow, the promises of the democrats. Please don’t let it happen again.

brought the usual breakfast meeting and, later in the day, problems with the
computer which lasted thru Saturday and maybe a small amount remains. Friday
and Saturday were men’s breakfast dates and church and Sunday school attendance
on Sunday followed by brunch with friends. Later, watched the Colts win on the
last play of the game.

and Tuesday resulted in no broadband access…if this appears on Wednesday, that
problem is in the past.
